Frank Ilfman has signed on to score the upcoming spy thriller The Operative. The film is written and directed by Yuval Adler (Bethlehem) and stars Diane Kruger, Martin Freeman and Cas Anvar. The movie is based on the Israeli best seller The English Teacher written by former Israeli intelligence officer Yiftach Reicher Atir and tells the story of a woman recruited by the Mossad to go undercover in Tehran who becomes entangled in a complex triangle with her handler and her subject. Anne Carey (Can You Ever Forgive Me?, Mr. Holmes, 20th Century Women) is producing the project for Archer Gray, alongside Match Factory Production’s Michael Weber & Viola Fügen (Foxtrot) and Spiro Films’ Eitan Mansuri (The Congress).

Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the comedy I Feel Pretty directed by Abby Kohn & Marc Silverstein and starring Amy Schumer, Michelle Williams, Rory Scovel, Emily Ratajkowski, Aidy Bryant, Busy Phillips and Tom Hopper. The film’s original music is composed by Michael Andrews (Bridesmaids, Neighbors, Funny People). Sony Masterworks has released a soundtrack album featuring three tracks from the composer’s score, as well as songs by Maroon 5, Meghan Trainor, Santigold & others. Also opening wide is the comedy sequel Super Troopers 2 directed by Jay Chandrasekhar and starring Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, Erik Stohlhanke, Linda Carter, Rob Lowe, Fred Savage, Brian Cox, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Will Sasso, Tyler Labine and Hayes MacArthur. Eagles of Death Metal have composed the film’s original music. ‘Ghost Stories’ Soundtrack Details
The details of the soundtrack album for the supernatural thriller Ghost Stories have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Frank Ilfman (Big Bad Wolves, The Etruscan Smile) who recorded his score with the London Metropolitan Orchestra at Air Lyndhurst Studios. Also included are the songs Why by Anthony Newley and Monster Mash by Bobby ‘Boris’ Pickett. The soundtrack will be released digitally and physically on April 13, 2018 by Varese Sarabande and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Ghost Stories is directed by Jeremy Dyson & Andy Nyman and stars Martin Freeman, Andy Nyman, Paul Whitehouse and Alex Lawther. The movie follows an arch sceptic professor who embarks upon a terror filled quest when he stumbles across a long lost file containing details of three cases of inexplicable ‘hauntings’.
’68 Kill’ Soundtrack Released
Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album for the crime comedy 68 Kill. The album features the film’s original music composed by Frank Ilfman (Big Bad Wolves, Ghost Stories) & James Griffiths. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. 68 Kill is written and directed by Trent Haaga and stars Matthew Gray Gubler, AnnaLynne McCord, Alisha Boe, Sheila Vand, Sam Eidson and James Moses Black.

The film is written and directed by Jeremy Dyson (The League of Gentlemen) & actor Andy Nyman and stars Martin Freeman, Paul Whitehouse, Alex Lawther and Amy Doyle. The movie follows an arch sceptic professor who embarks upon a terror filled quest, when he stumbles across a long lost file containing details of three cases of inexplicable ‘hauntings’. Claire Jones (Kill List, Sightseers) and Robin Gutch (Hunger, ’71) are producing the project. Ilfman will be recording his score with the London Metropolitan Orchestra in March.
Frank Ilfman to Score ‘The Etruscan Smile’
Frank Ilfman has signed on to score the upcoming drama The Etruscan Smile. The film is directed by Oded Binnun & Mihal Brezis (Aya) and stars Brian Cox, JJ Feild, Thora Birch and Rosanna Arquette. The movie follows an old Scotsman who travels from his home in the remote island of Vallasay, Scotland to San Francisco to seek treatment for a terminal illness and finds his precious days left alive transformed as he bonds with his American grandson. Michael McGowan (Saint Ralph, One Week), Michal Lali Kagan and Sarah Bellwood have written the screenplay based on the Spanish bestseller La Sonrisa Etrusca by Jose Luis Sampedro.
Frank Ilfman Wins Saturn Award for ‘Big Bad Wolves’
Frank Ilfman was honored with a Saturn Award last night at the 40th annual Saturn Awards in Burbank, presented by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films. The composer won the prize in the Best Music category for his score for the Israeli thriller Big Bad Wolves, which was also recognized in the Best International Film category, and accepted his award in person. The other nominated composers were Danny Elfman (Oz the Great and Powerful), John Williams (The Book Thief), Brian Tyler (Iron Man 3, Now You See Me) and Howard Shore (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug). Ilfman’s score for the thriller, which was released in the U.S. earlier this year by Magnolia Pictures, is available on MovieScore Media and Kronos Records. Expected to top the weekend box office is the action comedy Ride Along directed by Tim Story and starring Ice Cube, Kevin Hart, John Leguizamo, Bruce McGill, Tika Sumpter, Bryan Callen and Laurence Fishburne. The film’s original music is composed by Christopher Lennertz (Revolution, Horrible Bosses, Identity Thief) who previously scored Story’s Think Like a Man and will also score its sequel. Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music earlier this week and a CD version will be coming out on January 28 by Varese Sarabande. Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music digitally earlier this week and a CD version will be coming out in a few weeks. ‘Big Bad Wolves’ Soundtrack Announced
MovieScore Media and Kronos Records will release a soundtrack album for the Israeli thriller Big Bad Wolves. The album features the film’s original music composed by Frank Ilfman (Nemesis Game). The soundtrack will be released digitally on December 17, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Big Bad Wolves is written and directed by Aharon Keshales & Navot Papushado and stars Lior Ashkenazi, Tzahi Grad, Rotem Keinan and Dov Glickman. The movie centers on a series of murders that puts the lives of three men on a collision course – the father of the latest victim, a vigilante police detective and the main suspect in the killings. The thriller premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival and was picked for up for domestic distribution by Magnolia Pictures’ Magnet Releasing label.
