The first teaser trailer for the upcoming biographical drama Steve Jobs reveals that Daniel Pemberton has been tapped to score the movie. The film is directed by Danny Boyle and stars Michael Fassbender in the title role, Kate Winslet as Joanna Hoffman, former marketing chief of Macintosh, Seth Rogen as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and Jeff Daniels as former Apple CEO John Sculley. Katherine Waterston, Michael Stuhlbarg, Perla Haney-Jardine, Ripley Sobo, Sarah Snook and Adam Shapiro are co-starring. Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network, The West Wing, The Newsroom, A Few Good Men) wrote the screenplay based on Walter Isaacson’s best-selling biography of the Apple founder.

Alan Silvestri to Be Honored at World Soundtrack Awards 2015
Alan Silvestri has been chosen as this year’s guest of honor at this year’s World Soundtrack Awards. The composer’s music will be performed at the 15th anniversary edition of the event, conducted by Dirk Brossé and accompanied by film fragments on the big screen, during the 42nd Ghent Film Festival on October 24, 2015. Silvestri’s credits include numerous collaborations with director Robert Zemeckis including the Back to the Future trilogy, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Romancing the Stone, Cast Away, The Polar Express, Contact, Flight and Forrest Gump, which earned him an Academy Award nomination. He also scored such films as Marvel’s The Avengers & Captain America: The First Avenger, the animated feature The Croods, the Night at the Museum trilogy, James Cameron’s The Abyss and The Mummy Returns.
Weekly TV Music Roundup (November 2, 2014)
Premiering tonight is the HBO original mini-series Olive Kitteridge directed by Lisa Cholodenko based on Elizabeth Strout’s Pulitzer Price-winning novel of the same title and starring Frances McDormand, Richard Jenkins, Zoe Kazan, Bill Murray, John Gallagher Jr., Jesse Plemons and Brady Corbet. Carter Burwell (Fargo, Twilight, True Grit, Mildred Pierce) who previously scored Cholodenko’s 2010 feature The Kids Are All Right has composed the series’ original music. No word yet on a soundtrack release. Soundtrack for BBC’s ‘The Game’ Announced
MovieScore Media will release a soundtrack album for the BBC mini-series The Game. The album features the show’s original music composed by Daniel Pemberton (The Counselor, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Awakening). The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 4, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. The Game is created by Toby Whithouse and stars Tom Hughes, Brian Cox, Paul Ritter, Shaun Dooley, Chloe Pirrie, Victoria Hamilton, Jonathan Aris and Judy Parfitt. The spy drama centers on secret committee of intelligence officers who are assembled to investigate a KGB attack threatening Britain and the world.
Alexandre Desplat Named Film Composer of the Year at World Soundtrack Awards 2014
Alexandre Desplat was chosen as Film Composer of the Year 2014 at the World Soundtrack Awards 2012, tonight’s closing event of the 41st Ghent Film Festival. Desplat also received an award for his score for Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel in the Best Original Film Score of the Year category. Desplat also composed the music for such films as Gareth Edward’s Godzilla, George Clooney’s The Monuments Men and Stephen Frears’ Philomena over the past year. The composer previously was named Film Composer of the Year in 2007, 2009 and 2011. In the Discovery of the Year category, Daniel Pemberton was awarded for his work over the last year, which included his scores for Ridley Scott’s The Counselor and the comedy Cuban Fury. In the Best Original Song category, Pharrell Williams was honored for his Oscar-nominated song Happy from Despicable Me 2.
Daniel Pemberton to Score Guy Ritchie’s ‘The Man from U.N.C.L.E.’
Daniel Pemberton has been hired to score the upcoming film adaptation of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. The film is directed by Guy Ritchie and stars Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer, Alicia Vikander, Hugh Grant, Elizabeth Debicki, Luca Calvani and Jared Harris. The spy action comedy is based on the 1960 television series and tells the origin story of the first pairing of the two spies — one American, one Russian – who up on a joint mission to stop a mysterious international criminal organization, which is bent on destabilizing the fragile balance of power through the proliferation of nuclear weapons and technology. Ritchie has also written the screenplay with Lionel Wigram (Sherlock Holmes) who is producing the project with John Davis (Predator, The Firm, I, Robot, Chronicle). Pemberton’s previous scoring credits include Ridley Scott’s The Counselor, the horror thriller The Awakening, this year’s comedy Cuban Fury and the British comedy series Peep Show.

‘Cuban Fury’ Soundtrack Details
Decca Records will release a soundtrack album for the British romantic comedy Cuban Fury. The album features the Latin jazz and salsa music from the film by artists including Tito Puente, Sunlightsquare, Marc Anthony, Oscar D’Leon and more. Also included are two tracks from the movie’s original score composed by Daniel Pemberton (The Counselor, The Awakening). The soundtrack will be released in the UK on February 17, 2014. Cuban Fury is directed by James Griffiths and stars Nick Frost, Chris O’Dowd, Olivia Colman, Rashida Jones, Ian McShane, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Rory Kinnear, and Alexandra Roach. The movie about a man who reignites his long-dormant passion for salsa dancing after falling for his gorgeous American boss will be released overseas on February 14.

The film’s original musis is composed by Sam Spiegel whose music has previously been featured in some of the other Jackass features and Koool G Murder who is the brother of the film’s co-writer and producer Spike Jonze.
