Four new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the animated feature Smallfoot directed by Karey Kirkpatrick and starring Channing Tatum, Zendaya, James Corden, Common, LeBron James, Gina Rodriguez, Danny DeVito and Yara Shahidi. The director and Wayne Kirkpatrick have composed the film’s original songs and Heitor Pereira (Despicable Me, Minions, The Angry Birds Movie) has composed the film’s original score. Also opening wide is the horror thriller Hell Fest directed by Gregory Plotkin and starring Amy Forsyth, Reign Edwards, Bex Taylor-Klaus, Christian James, Roby Attal, Matt Mercurio and Tony Todd. The film’s original music is composed by Bear McCreary (The Walking Dead, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Battlestar Galactica, Outlander, Happy Death Day). Sparks & Shadows has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as tracks by Brendan McKian, John Massari and Crisis Couture. ‘Hell Fest’ Soundtrack Details

Sparks & Shadows will release the official soundtrack album for the slasher thriller Hell Fest. The album features the film’s original score composed by Bear McCreary (The Walking Dead, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Battlestar Galactica, Outlander, Happy Death Day, Colossal), as well as tracks by Brendan McKian, John Massari and Crisis Couture. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, September 28 and will be available to download on Amazon. Hell Fest is directed by Gregory Plotkin and stars Amy Forsyth, Reign Edwards, Bex Taylor-Klaus, Christian James, Roby Attal, Matt Mercurio and Tony Todd. The movie revolves around a masked serial killer who turns a horror themed amusement park into his own personal playground, terrorizing a group of friends while the rest of the patrons believe that it is all part of the show.

Bear McCreary to Return for ‘Happy Death Day 2U’

Bear McCreary has confirmed that he will be returning as the composer for the upcoming slasher sequel Happy Death Day 2U. The film is written directed by Christopher Landon who previously helmed the original film and stars Jessica Rothe, Israel Broussard, Phi Vu, Ruby Modine & Rachel Matthews who are reprising their roles from last year’s hit movie. They are joined by Suraj Sharma and Sarah Yarkin. The movie picks up where things left off after the first film when the lead characters find out that the time loop just got passed on to one of their friends and find themselves in another race against time to determine the cause.

Bear McCreary has signed on to score the upcoming horror thriller Hell Fest. The film is directed by Gregory Plotkin (Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension) and stars Amy Forsyth, Reign Edwards, Bex Taylor-Klaus, Christian James, Roby Attal, Matt Mercurio and Tony Todd. The movie revolves around a masked serial killer who turns a horror themed amusement park into his own personal playground, terrorizing a group of friends while the rest of the patrons believe that it is all part of the show. Seth M. Sherwood (Leatherface) wrote the screenplay.

Bear McCreary to Score Mike Doughterty’s ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’

Bear McCreary has been tapped to score the upcoming monster movie Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The film is directed by Michael Dougherty (Krampus, Trick ‘r Treat) and stars Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Ken Watanabe, O’Shea Jackson Jr.,  Bradley Whitford, Sally Hawkins, Charles Dance, Thomas Middleditch and Ziyi Zhang. The movie follows a group of members of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as they face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah.

‘Animals Crackers’ Score Album Details

The details of the score album for the animated feature Animals Crackers have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score composed by Bear McCreary (10 Cloverfield Lane, Outlander, The Walking Dead, Battlestar Galactica, Colossal, Happy Death Day). No release date has been announced yet for the soundtrack, which will be released by Sony Classical. As previously reported, The label will also release a separate album featuring the songs from the movie and selections of McCreary’s score. Animal Crackers is directed by Scott Christian Sava & Tony Bancroft and features the voices of Emily Blunt, Danny DeVito, Ian McKellen, Sylvester Stallone, Raven-Symoné, Patrick Warburton and Wallace Shawna.

‘Animal Crackers’ Soundtrack Details

Sony Masterworks will release a soundtrack album for the animated feature Animal Crackers. The album features the original songs from the movie by Howard Jones and Toad the Wet Sprocket, as well as tracks by Queen, Huey Lewis & the News, Michael Bublé, Katie Herzig, Fleur East & more. Also included are three tracks from the film’s original score composed by Bear McCreary (10 Cloverfield Lane, The Walking Dead, Battlestar Galactica, Outlander). The composer also produced two original songs performed by Ian McKellen and written by John Adair and Jeff ‘Swampy’ Marsh, Dan Povenmire, Robert Hughes, Danny Jacob & Scott Christian Sava. Bear McCreary (10 Cloverfield Lane, The Walking Dead, Battlestar Galactica, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) has recently recorded his score for the upcoming drama The Professor and the Madman. The film is directed by Farhad Safinia (Boss, screenwriter of Apocalypto) and stars Mel Gibson, Sean Penn, Natalie Dormer, Jeremy Irvine, Ioan Gruffudd, Steve Coogan, Laurence Fox and Jennifer Ehle. The movie is based on the book The Surgeon of Crowthorne by Simon Winchester and tells the story of professor James Murray, who began compiling the Oxford English Dictionary in 1857 and Dr. William Chester Minor, who submitted more than 10,000 entries while he was an inmate at an asylum for the criminally insane.

Weekly TV Music Roundup (June 24, 2018)

Premiering tomorrow, June 25 is the documentary Believer directed by Don Argott. The film’s original score is composed by Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, Inception, Gladiator, The Dark Knight, Pirates of the Caribbean, Dunkirk). The composer also co-wrote original songs for the movie, including the track Skipping Stones co-written by Imagine Dragons’ Dan Reynolds. Premiering on Friday, June 29, is the sci-fi thriller Tau directed by Federico D’ Alessandro and starring Maika Monroe, Ed Skrein. Bear McCreary (10 Cloverfield Lane, The Walking Dead, Outlander, Battlestar Galactica, Happy Death Day) has composed the film’s original music. Bear McCreary Scoring George Ratliff’s ‘Welcome Home’

Bear McCreary is scoring the upcoming thriller Welcome Home. The film is directed by George Ratliff (Joshua, Salvation Boulevard) and stars Aaron Paul and Emily Ratajkowski. The movie revolves around a couple who spends a weekend at a vacation rental home in the Italian countryside in an attempt to repair their relationship, but soon become victims of the homeowner’s sinister plans. David Levinson wrote the screenplay. Allan Mandelbaum (The Good Neighbor) and Tim & Trevor White (Ingrid Goes West, LBJ) are producing the Voltage Pictures production.
