Lakeshore Records will be releasing the official soundtrack album for the romantic comedy I Don’t Know How She Does It. The album includes one track from the score by composer Aaron Zigman, as well as several songs from the movie by such artists as Betty Everett, Damato, Little Jackie, Teena Marie, Nat King Cole and Holly Palmer. The soundtrack will be released on September 27, 2011 and is available for pre-order on Amazon. Check back audio clips from all tracks on the album below. I Don’t Know How She Does It is directed by Douglas McGrath and stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Pierce Brosnan, Greg Kinnear, Christina Hendricks, Kelsey Grammer, Seth Meyers and Olivia Munn. The movie will be released on September 16 by the Weinstein Company.

Aaron Zigman Taking Over ‘I Don’t Know How She Does It’
Aaron Zigman has taken over scoring duties on the romantic comedy I Don’t Know How She Does It. He is replacing Rachel Portman who was originally attached to score the movie as reported earlier this summer. The film directed by Douglas McGrath stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Pierce Brosnan, Greg Kinnear, Christina Hendricks, Kelsey Grammer, Seth Meyers and Olivia Munn. The comedy follows a working mother who is desperately trying to juggle marriage, children and a high-stress job as a financial executive. Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada, Morning Glory) wrote the screenplay based on a novel by Allison Pearson. Zigman has previously scored the Sarah Jessica Parker-starring film adaptations of Sex and the City. I Don’t Know How She Does It is scheduled to be released on September 16, 2011 by The Weinstein Company.
Aaron Zigman to Score ‘Good Deeds’
Aaron Zigman is set to reunite with Tyler Perry on the director’s latest project Good Deeds. Perry is directing, writing, producing and starring in the romantic drama about an affluent and successful entrepreneur who’s about to get married when he becomes enamored with a down-on-her-luck single mom. His co-stars include Thandie Newton, Rebecca Romijn, Gabrielle Union and Jamie Kennedy. The project, which is currently being shot in Atlanta will be Zigman’s and Perry’s ninth collaboration following the comedy We the Peeples, which is produced by the filmmaker and is currently in post-production. Lionsgate has yet to set a release date for Good Deeds, but a release in early 2012 seems likely.
Aaron Zigman Scoring ‘A Mann’s World’ Pilot
Aaron Zigman is scoring the pilot for the drama A Mann’s World. The project is written, produced and directed by Michael Patrick King who has worked with the composer on both Sex and the City movies. The show follows the complicated life of Allan Mann, a celebrity hair stylist in glamorous Los Angeles as he navigates the complexities of his business, his family life, and his goal to stay young and relevant in a place where looks are everything. The pilot stars Don Johnson, Ellen Barkin, Kelly Hu, Sandra Vergara, Caitlin Crosby and JR Bourne. The project is Zigman’s first TV credit since he wrote the music for the 2004 Showtime show Crown Heights. Zigman joins a number of composers best known for their feature work who are scoring a TV pilot this season, including Mark Isham, Chris Bacon and Brian Reitzell.
Weekly Film Music Roundup (April 22, 2011)
Three new movies are opening wide this Easter weekend:
The period drama Water for Elephants directed by Francis Lawrence and starring Robert Pattinson, Reese Witherspoon, Christoph Waltz and Hal Holbrook features music by James Newton Howard. A soundtrack album including the original score, as well as a couple of songs from the film has been released by Sony Masterworks. Also opening wide is Tyler Perry’s comedy Madea’s Big Happy Family starring Perry himself, as well as Loretta Devine and Bow Wow. The film’s score is by Aaron Zigman as announced earlier this year. While Tyler Perry’s movies usually get a soundtrack album, no release has been announced so far.
Aaron Zigman to Score ‘We the Peeples’
Aaron Zigman has signed on to score the upcoming comedy We the Peeples. The movie is written and directed by Tina Gordon Chism who makes her directing debut on the project. She has previously written the screenplays for Drumline and the 2006 crime drama ATL, which featured a score by Zigman. The comedy starring Craig Robinson, Kerry Washington, Tyler James Williams and David Alan Grier centers on a young man enduring the weekend from hell when he surprises his girlfriend by showing up to meet her parents during the family’s annual end of summer celebration. We the Peeples is produced by Tyler Perry who regularly works with Zigman. The movie marks the composer’s eighth collaboration with Perry.
Aaron Zigman scoring ‘Madea’s Big Happy Family’
Aaron Zigman is currently scoring the upcoming comedy Madea’s Big Happy Family starring and directed by Tyler Perry. Zigman has become Perry’s regular film composer, having scored the director’s last seven movies, most recently last year’s drama For Colored Girls. Madea’s Big Happy Family co-stars Loretta Devine, Bow Wow. The film is scheduled to be released on April 22, 2011 by Lionsgate. Aaron Zigman to score ‘What’s Your Number?’
Aaron Zigman has been hired to score the upcoming comedy What’s Your Number? The comedy stars Anna Faris, Chris Evans, Zachary Quinto and Ryan Phillippe. The film is directed by Mark Mylod, who previously directed the features Ali G Indahouse and The Big White, as well as episodes of several TV shows including United States of Tara, Entourage and the upcoming Showtime show Shameless starring William H. Macy. What’s Your Number? centers around a woman, who looks back at the past twenty men she’s had relationships with in her life and wonders if one of them might be her one true love. 20th Century Fox will release the movie on April 29, 2011.

Dreamworks Animation’s latest movie features a score by Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe, as well as numerous popular songs. A soundtrack album featuring about 30 minutes of score, as well as most of the songs used in the movie has been released by Lakeshore Records. To listen to clips, check out Amazon or iTunes. The movie contains roughly 50 minutes of score including a very nice arrangement of the main themes during the end credits which has surprisingly been left off the soundtrack album.
