George Fenton (Dangerous Liaisons, Groundhog Day, Anna and the King, Ever After, The Blue Planet) has composed the original music for the upcoming documentary Elizabeth. The movie marks the final film of late director Roger Michell (Notting Hill, Changing Lanes) who passed away last week and centers on the longest-lived and longest-reigning British monarch. The Free Range Films production is produced by Michell and Kevin Loader (The Death of Stalin, The Personal History of David Copperfield). Fenton has previously scored Michell’s last feature The Duke, which premiered at last year’s Venice Film Festival and has been picked up for domestic distribution by Sony Pictures Classics for a release in 2022. Deadline is reporting that Grammy Award-nominated singer/songwriter Justin Tranter is writing and producing original songs for the upcoming Netflix original film Purple Hearts. The movie is directed by Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum (Ramona and Beezus, Aquamarine) and stars Sofia Carson (who is also co-writing and performing additional music for the project), Nicholas Galitzine, Chosen Jacobs, John Harlan Kim, Anthony Ippolito, Kat Cunning, Scott Deckert, Sarah Rich and Linden Ashby. Michael Kiwanuka has recorded the original song Beautiful Life for the new Netflix documentary Convergence: Courage in a Crisis. The track is written and performed by the Grammy Award-nominated singer/songwriter and will be featured in the film directed by Academy Award winner Orlando von Einsiedel (The White Helments, Virgunga) who spotlights a cross-section of global citizens in the COVID-19 crisis.
