A soundtrack album has been released for the New Zealand series Rūrangi. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s first season composed by Lachlan Anderson (6 Days, Tabula Rasa, The Boat). Rūrangi is created by Oliver Page, directed by Max Currie and stars Elz Carrad, Kirk Torrance, Āwhina Rose Henare Ashby, Ramon Te Wake, Arlo Green, Aroha Rawson, Renée Sheridan and Renee Lyons. The drama centers on a transgender activist who returns to the remote, politically divided dairy community of Rūrangi after a decade away, hoping to reconnect with his estranged father, who hasn’t heard from him since before he transitioned. Ludwig Göransson (Black Panther, Tenet, Creed, Venom, Community) has been tapped to score the upcoming animated feature Turning Red. The film is directed by Domee Shi (Bao) and features the voices of Rosalie Chiang and Sandra Oh. The movie revolves around a 13-year-old girl who suddenly “poofs” into a giant red panda when she gets too excited and her over-protective, mother who is never far from her daughter. The show is developed by Peter Filardi (Flatliners, The Craft) & Jason Filardi (Bringing Down the House, 17 Again) based on the short story Jerusalem’s Lot by Stephen King and stars Adrien Brody and Emily Hampshire. The horror drama is set in the 1850 and follows a man who relocates his family of three children to his ancestral home in Maine after his wife dies at sea and will soon have to confront the secrets of his family’s sordid history. Stones Throw Records will release a soundtrack album for the animated feature Cryptozoo. The album features the film’s original music composed by John Carroll Kirby. The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 13, 2021 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon and Apple Music/iTunes.
