Premiering today is the Showtime original series The First Lady created by Aaron Cooley, directed by Susanne Bier and starring Viola Davis as Michelle Obama, Michelle Pfeiffer as Betty Ford, Gillian Anderson as Eleanor Roosevelt, as well as Kiefer Sutherland, Aaron Eckhart, Dakota Fanning, Regina Taylor, Lily Rabe and Jayme Lawson. The show’s original music is composed by Geoff Zanelli (Pirates of the Caribbean:Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Into the West, Disturbia, The Intruder, Christopher Robin). The drama, which will air every Sunday on Showtime.

Premiering on Friday is the Apple TV+ docuseries They Call Me Magic directed by Rick Famuyiwa about the life and career of NBA legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson.  Terence Blanchard (BlacKkKlansman, Malcolm X, Perry Mason, 25th Hour, Red Tails, Harriet, Da 5 Bloods, Swagger, One Night in Miami…) has composed the show’s original music. The show is created by Anya Reiss and stars Alicia von Rittberg, Romola Garai, Jessica Raine, Tom Cullen, John Heffernaan, Jamie Blackley, Alexandra Gilbreath and Jamie Parker. The drama tells the untold story of the early life of England’s most iconic Queen: Elizabeth Tudor, an orphaned teenager who became embroiled in the political and sexual politics of the English court. ‘The Mulligan’ Soundtrack Album Released

Rob Pottorf (The Ultimate Legacy, Mountain Top, Jimmy, Finding Faith, I Am Patrick, Dog Days of Summer) has released a soundtrack album for the faith-based drama The Mulligan. The album features the composer’s original score from the film and is now available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. The Mulligan is directed by Michael O. Sajbel and stars Eric Close and Pat Boone, as well as PGA golfer Tom Lehman and broadcasting legend Jim Nantz as themselves. The movie is based on the book of the same title by Wally Armstrong & Ken Blanchard and follows a career-focused CEO separated from his wife and estranged from his son of who encounters a mysterious character known as “The Old Pro” who inspires him to reverse his downward spiral.

Opening in theaters nationwide is the fantasy adventure Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore directed by David Yates and staring  Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, Mads Mikkelsen, Dan Fogler, Ezra Miller, Alison Sudol, William Nadylam, Callum Turner and Victoria Yeates. The film’s original music is composed by James Newton Howard (The Hunger Games, Maleficent, The Sixth Sense, King Kong, The Fugitive, Jungle Cruise, Signs). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score and a song by Gregory Porter last Friday. Also opening wide is the biographical drama Father Stu written and directed by Rosalind Ross and starring Mark Wahlberg,  Teresa Ruiz, Mel Gibson, Jacki Weaver, Faith Jeffries, Cody Fern, Ned Bellamy and Malcolm McDowell. The album features the film’s original score composed by Dickon Hinchliffe (Leave No Trace, The Lost Daughter, Winter’s Bone, Locke, Out of the Furnace, Peaky Blinders, Last Chance Harvey). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here, where you can also check out audio samples. As previously reported, Big Machine Records has released Brett Young’s original song Long Way Home separately as a digital single last week. Available to stream/download now are the tracks Hedwig’s Theme and <em>Harry’s Wondrous World composed by John Williams (who scored the first three installments in the Harry Potter movie series) newly recorded for the project with the Synchron Stage Orchestra in Vienna conducted by James Seymour Brett.
