Tangerine Dream’s Remastered ‘Firestarter’ Score to Be Released

Varese Sarabande has announced a new version of the soundtrack album for the 1984 sci-fi horror movie Firestarter directed by Mark L. Lester and starring David Keith, Drew Barrymore, Freddie Jones, Heather Locklear, Martin Sheen and George C. Scott. The album features the remastered original music from the film composed and performed by Tangerine Dream (Thief, Legend, Miracle Mile, Risky Business, Near Dark). The release, which also includes new liner notes and previously unused film stills, coincides with the opening of Blumhouse’s Firestarter remake (scored by John Carpenter, Cody Carpenter & Daniel Davies) last weekend. The soundtrack will be released on CD and vinyl (both limited to 1,500 copies) on July 22, 2022 and is now available for pre-order on the label’s official website, where you can also listen to audio samples and check out the full album details.
