A24 Music will release the official soundtrack album for the drama The Inspection. The album features the original music from the film composed by the experimental pop band Animal Collective who made their narrative feature film scoring debut on the project. The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 18 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. A first track (Crucible) is already available to stream/download now and can be checked out after the jump. The Inspection is written and directed by Elegance Bratton and stars Jeremy Pope, Raul Castillo, McCaul Lombardi, Bokeem Woodbine, Aaron Dominguez and Gabrielle Union. The album features selections of the original score from the show’s first season composed by Adrian Younge & Ali Shaheed Muhammad (Luke Cage, Run This Town, Boogie, The Equalizer, Power Book III: Raising Kanan). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. The label has previously released several songs from the drama. Sony Music Masterworks & Milan Records have announced the details of the soundtrack album for the Netflix original film Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical. The album features the Grammy Award-nominated songs from the original West End production written by Tim Minchin (Groundhog Day The Musical), newly recorded by the movie’s cast, including Alisha Weir (who stars in the title role), Emma Thompson, Lashana Lynch, Andrea Riseborough and Stephen Graham. Also included are ten tracks from film’s original score by composed by Christopher Nightingale (Pride). The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 18 and physically on December 9. Legacy Recordings has announced a soundtrack album for the Roku Channel original movie Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. The album features a selection of “Weird Al’s” greatest hits, some of which were newly recorded for the film, as well as a new original song (Now You Know) written and performed by Yankovic. Also included is the movie’s original score composed by Leo Birenberg & Zach Robinson (Cobra Kai, Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin, Impractical Jokers: The Movie) and performed by the Budapest Scoring Orchestra. Deadline is reporting that the art-pop duo Sparks (Ron & Russell Mael) is developing an original movie musical for Focus Features. The film, entitled X Crucior, will be written and executive produced by the singer/songwriters. No director or plot details have been announced yet. The Sparks Brothers have previously composed the original songs for last year’s musical drama Annette directed by Leos Carax. Simon Franglen has written an original song for James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water. The track, entitled The Songcord, is performed by Zoe Saldana and will be featured in the film starring Sam Worthington, Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet and Stephen Lang. The song and Franglen’s original score from the sequel is expected to be released next month by Hollywood Records. Franglen has previously co-written and -produced the original end credits song I See You (performed by Leona Lewis) from the 2009 Avatar original movie with James Horner and Kuk Harrell (lyrics).
