Theodore Shapiro has won his second Emmy Award for his score for the episode Cold Harbor from the second season of the Apple TV+ original series Severance in the Outstanding Music Composition for a Series category at tonight’s first night of the 77th Creative Prime Emmy Awards. He previously won his first Emmy for his music from Season 1 back in 2022 and was also nominated for his main title theme. Mick Giacchino received his first Emmy Award in the Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited or Anthology Series, Movie or Special category for his score from the episode After Hours of the HBO series The Penguin. French electronic music producer/DJ Surkin is reteaming with director Romain Gavras (The World Is Yours, Our Day Will Come) on the upcoming British/Greek satirical thriller Sacrifice. Together with Gavras himself, under their multidisciplinary collaborative project Gener8ion, they have composed the original music for the film starring Chris Evans, Anya Taylor-Joy, Salma Hayek Pinault, Vincent Cassel, John Malkovich, Charli XCX, Ambika Mod and Jonatan “Yung Lean” Leandoer. Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the supernatural horror sequel The Conjuring: Last Rites directed by Michael Chaves and starring Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Ben Hardy and Mia Tomlinson. The film’s original music is composed by Benjamin Wallfisch (It, Twisters, Alien: Romulus, Blade Runner 2049, The Flash, Hidden Figures, Annabelle Creation, Mortal Kombat, Shazam!). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last Friday. Opening semi-wide in around 600 theaters this weekend is the comedy drama Twinless written and directed by James Sweeney and starring Dylan O’Brien, Sweeney himself, Lauren Graham, Chris Perfetti, Aisling Franciosi, and Tasha Smith. Jaeil Jung (Parasite, Squid Game, Mickey 17, Okja, Broker) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced yet. The film is directed by Hubert Davis (Black Ice) and stars Ashton James, Blair Underwood, Henri Picard, Shawn Doyle, Tamara Podemski, Donald MacLean Jr., Alexandra McDonald and Allan Hawco. The movie is based on the 1986 cult classic of the same title (starring Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze & Keanu Reeves and scored by William Orbit) and follows a hockey prodigy who joins the Hamilton Mustangs and discovers that he must face off against toxic behavior on the ice and within himself to fulfill his potential as professional hockey player. Ocean Avenue Entertainment has released a soundtrack album for the faith-based animated feature Light of the World. The album features the film’s original score composed by Alex McKenzie. Also included is the title song by Shane & Shane. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download in select digital music stores.
