Premiering tonight is the second season of the HBO original series Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty created by Max Borenstein & Jim Hecht and starring John C. Reilly, Quincy Isaiah, Jason Clarke, Adrien Brody, Gaby Hoffmann, Hadley Robinson, Jason Segel, Michael Chiklis and Rob Morgan. Jeff Beal (House of Cards, Rome, Monk, Carnivale, Pollock) has joined Robert Glasper (who shared scoring credit on Season 1 with Nicholas Britell) to co-score the new season. The drama will air Sunday nights on HBO and will also be available to stream on Max.

Premiering on Wednesday, August 9, is the Apple TV+ original animated series Strange Planet created by Dan Harmon & Nathan W. Pyle and starring Tunde Adebimpe, Demi Adejuyigbe, Danny Pudi, Lori Tan Chinn and Hannah Einbinder. Isabella Summers (Little Fires Everywhere, Lady Chatterley’s Lover, The Offer, Physical, Sex/Life, Call Jane) has composed the show’s original music. ‘The Sixth Commandment’ Soundtrack Album Released

Banijay Music has released a soundtrack album for the BBC drama The Sixth Commandment. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Rael Jones (Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris, Harlots, Suite Francaise, My Cousin Rachel, The Salisbury Poisonings, Kids in Love). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Apple Music/iTunes and most other major digital music services. The Sixth Commandment is written by Sarah Phelps  and stars Timothy Spall, Anne Reid, Annabel Scholey, Éanna Hardwicke, Ben Bailey Smith, Conor MacNeill, Sheila Hancock, Adrian Rawlins and Amanda Root. Kevon Cronin (Hunter Hunter, The Return, Small Group) has recently scored the upcoming action thriller King of Killers. The film is directed by Kevin Grevioux (Underworld, I, Frankenstein) and stars Frank Grillo, Alain Moussi, Stephen Dorff, Grevioux himself and Marie Avgeropoulos. The movie based on Grevioux’s graphic novel of the same title follows a a former hitman who is offered a $10 million contract to eliminate the world’s greatest assassin, but – after traveling to Tokyo to meet the client – discovers other professional killers have been invited as well. Soundtrack EP for Netflix’s ‘D.P’ Season 2 Released

Genie Music has released a soundtrack EP for the South Korean Netflix original series D.P. The EP features five songs from the second season of the show written and performed by Primary, Kevin Oh, Kriz and Meego. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here. Also listen to all five tracks below. A first full album featuring the songs from Season 1 has previously been released back in 2021. D.P. is created by Han Jun-hee & Kim Bo-Tong and stars Jung Hae-in as a young private whose assignment to capture army deserters reveals the painful reality endured by each enlistee during his compulsory call of duty. Already playing in theaters nationwide since this past Wednesday is the animated feature Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem directed by Jeff Rowe and starring Micah Abbey, Hannibal Buress, Shamon Brown Jr, Nicolas Cantu, Rose Byrne, John Cena, Natasia Demetriou, Ice Cube, Jackie Chan, Giancarlo Esposito and Ayo Edebiri. The film’s original music is composed by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Gone Girl, Soul, Watchmen, Mank, Bone and All). The Null Corporation has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score last Friday. Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the action sequel Meg 2: The Trench directed by Ben Wheatley and starring Jason Statham, Wu Jing, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Sophia Cai, Skyler Samuels and Cliff Curtis. Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia, Shrek, The Martian, Kingdom of Heaven, Chicken Run, Mulan, The Last Duel). ‘Komodo’ Digital Soundtrack Album Released

BSX Records has released a digital version of the soundtrack album for the 1999 horror thriller Komodo directed by Michael Lantieri and starring Jill Hennessy, Billy Burke, Nina Landis, Kevin Zegers and Simon Westaway. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Elf, Iron Man 2, The Jungle Book, The Emperor’s New Groove, Hocus Pocus). Netflix Music has released a soundtrack album for the streamer’s limited series Painkiller. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Matt Morton (Apollo 11, Dinosaur 13, Why Did You Kill Me?). Painkiller is created by Micah Fitzerman-Blue & Noah Harpster and stars Matthew Broderick, Uzo Aduba, Taylor Kitsch, Dina Shihabi, West Duchovny, John Rothman, Clark Gregg, Jack Mulhern and Sam Anderson. Varese Sarabande has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1986 horror comedy April Fool’s Day directed by Fred Walton and starring Thomas F. Wilson, Deborah Foreman, Amy Steel, Griffin O’Neal, Ken Olandt, Leah Pinsent and Deborah Goodrich. The Deluxe Edition album features the world premiere release of the actual orchestral recording of the film’s score composed by Charles Bernstein (A Nightmare on Elm Street, Love at First Bite, Deadly Friend, Cujo), as well as previously unreleased bonus tracks. ‘The Last Voyage of the Demeter’ Soundtrack Album Details

The details of the soundtrack album for the supernatural horror movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter have been announced. The album features the film’s original music composed by Emmy Award winner Bear McCreary (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Outlander, Battlestar Galactica, 10 Cloverfield Lane, The Walking Dead). The soundtrack will be released digitally next Friday, August 11 by Sony Classical and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. The composer’s main theme is already available to stream/download now. The Last Voyage of the Demeter is directed by André Øvredal and stars Corey Hawkins, Aisling Franciosi, Liam Cunningham, Jon Jon Briones, David Dastmalchian, Nikolai Nikolaeff, Javier Botet and Stefan Kapicic. Varese Sarabande has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1984 crime drama/thriller Blood Simple written and directed by Joel & Ethan Coen and starring John Getz, Frances McDormand, Dan Hedaya and M. Emmet Walsh. The Deluxe Edition soundtrack features the expanded and remastered original score from the film composed by Academy Award nominee Carter Burwell (The Banshees of Inisherin, Carol, Fargo, Twilight, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, True Grit), including around fifteen minutes of previously unreleased music.
