Premiering tonight is the second season of the HBO original series Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty created by Max Borenstein & Jim Hecht and starring John C. Reilly, Quincy Isaiah, Jason Clarke, Adrien Brody, Gaby Hoffmann, Hadley Robinson, Jason Segel, Michael Chiklis and Rob Morgan. Jeff Beal (House of Cards, Rome, Monk, Carnivale, Pollock) has joined Robert Glasper (who shared scoring credit on Season 1 with Nicholas Britell) to co-score the new season. The drama will air Sunday nights on HBO and will also be available to stream on Max.

Premiering on Wednesday, August 9, is the Apple TV+ original animated series Strange Planet created by Dan Harmon & Nathan W. Pyle and starring Tunde Adebimpe, Demi Adejuyigbe, Danny Pudi, Lori Tan Chinn and Hannah Einbinder. Kevon Cronin (Hunter Hunter, The Return, Small Group) has recently scored the upcoming action thriller King of Killers. The film is directed by Kevin Grevioux (Underworld, I, Frankenstein) and stars Frank Grillo, Alain Moussi, Stephen Dorff, Grevioux himself and Marie Avgeropoulos. The movie based on Grevioux’s graphic novel of the same title follows a a former hitman who is offered a $10 million contract to eliminate the world’s greatest assassin, but – after traveling to Tokyo to meet the client – discovers other professional killers have been invited as well. Genie Music has released a soundtrack EP for the South Korean Netflix original series D.P. The EP features five songs from the second season of the show written and performed by Primary, Kevin Oh, Kriz and Meego. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here. Varese Sarabande has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1986 horror comedy April Fool’s Day directed by Fred Walton and starring Thomas F. Wilson, Deborah Foreman, Amy Steel, Griffin O’Neal, Ken Olandt, Leah Pinsent and Deborah Goodrich. The Deluxe Edition album features the world premiere release of the actual orchestral recording of the film’s score composed by Charles Bernstein (A Nightmare on Elm Street, Love at First Bite, Deadly Friend, Cujo), as well as previously unreleased bonus tracks. The details of the soundtrack album for the supernatural horror movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter have been announced. The album features the film’s original music composed by Emmy Award winner Bear McCreary (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Outlander, Battlestar Galactica, 10 Cloverfield Lane, The Walking Dead). Varese Sarabande has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1984 crime drama/thriller Blood Simple written and directed by Joel & Ethan Coen and starring John Getz, Frances McDormand, Dan Hedaya and M. Emmet Walsh. The Deluxe Edition soundtrack features the expanded and remastered original score from the film composed by Academy Award nominee Carter Burwell (The Banshees of Inisherin, CarolFargoTwilight, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, True Grit), including around fifteen minutes of previously unreleased music.
