Already playing in theaters nationwide since this past Wednesday is the animated feature Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem directed by Jeff Rowe and starring Micah Abbey, Hannibal Buress, Shamon Brown Jr, Nicolas Cantu, Rose Byrne, John Cena, Natasia Demetriou, Ice Cube, Jackie Chan, Giancarlo Esposito and Ayo Edebiri. The film’s original music is composed by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Gone Girl, Soul, Watchmen, Mank, Bone and All). The Null Corporation has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score last Friday. Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the action sequel Meg 2: The Trench directed by Ben Wheatley and starring Jason Statham, Wu Jing, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Sophia Cai, Skyler Samuels and Cliff Curtis. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score and a song by Page Kennedy (who also stars in the movie) last week. Opening semi-wide in over 400 theaters is the comedy drama Shortcomings directed by Randall Park and starring Justin H. Min, Sherry Cola, Ally Maki, Sonoya Mizuno, Debby Ryan, Jacob Batalon, Tavi Gevinson and Timothy Simons. The film’s original music is composed by Gene Back (Holler, Cabrini, Cowboys). Gardener Recordings has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening in around 400 theaters is the biographical drama Dreamin’ Wild written and directed by Bill Pohlad and starring Casey Affleck, Zooey Deschanel, Noah Jupe, Walton Goggins, Chris Messina, Jack Dylan Grazer and Beau Bridges. Singer/songwriter Donnie Emerson and Leopold Ross (The Book of Eli, Triple 9) have composed the film’s original music. Light in the Attic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring songs and score from the movie today. Opening in select U.S. theaters today is the French drama Passages co-written and directed by Ira Sachs and starring Franz Rogowski, Ben Whishaw and Adèle Exarchopoulos. The film doesn’t feature an original score and no soundtrack album has been released. The movie, which follows a gay filmmaker couple whose marriage is thrown into crisis when one of them begins a passionate affair with a younger woman he meets after completing his latest film, premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is being released stateside by MUBI.

Opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the thriller What Comes Around directed by Amy Redford and starring Summer Phoenix, Grace Van Dien, Kyle Gallner and Jesse Garcia. The film’s original music is composed by Craig Wedren (Yellowjackets, Role Models, School of Rock, GLOW, Wet Hot American Summer). No soundtrack album has been announced. Also opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the action thriller The Collective directed by Tom DeNucci and starring Lucas Till, Ruby Rose, Paul Ben-Victor, Mercedes Varnado, Tyrese Gibson and Don Johnson. David Bateman (Money Plane,  A Girl Like Her, My Father Muhammad Ali) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. Another movie opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the Corner Office directed by Joachim Back and starring Jon Hamm, Danny Pudi, Sarah Gadon and Christopher Heyerdahl. The film’s original music is composed by Frans Bak (The Killing, Doctor Foster, Men & Chicken) and Keld Haaning Ibsen (Noma: My Perfect Storm). No soundtrack album has been released. The movie, which revolves around an office misfit who discovers a secret room that brings out his true potential, sparking a clash between harsh reality and his own wild fantasies, premiered at last year’s Tribeca Film Festival and is being distributed by Lionsgate.
