Columbia Records will release a new soundtrack album for the 1983 musical drama Yentl co-written and directed by Barbra Streisand and starring Streisand herself, Mandy Patinkin and Amy Irving. The album features the Streisand-performed original songs from the movie written by Michel Legrand (The Thomas Crown Affair, Summer of ’42, Never Say Never Again The Umbrellas of Cherbourg) and featuring lyrics by Alan Bergman & Marilyn Bergman, including previously unreleased demos that Streisand recorded in her living room accompanied by Legrand on piano. French-Canadian pianist and neo-classical composer Alexandra Stréliski has written the original score for the upcoming Canadian/Polish historical drama Irena’s Vow. The film is directed by Louise Archambault (Gabrielle, And the Birds Rained Down) and stars Sophie Nélisse, Dougray Scott and Andrzej Seweryn. The movie is set in occupied Poland during World War II and tells the story of a former nurse who risks her own life to shelter a dozen Jewish men and women from the Nazi war machine. Walt Disney Records has released the original song Impossible Child written for Disney’s live-action adaptation of the animated classic The Little Mermaid. The track, which was recorded for the movie, but ended up being cut from the final version of the film, is written by Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Enchanted) & Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, Encanto, Moana) and performed by Javier Bardem (who stars as Triton) and is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon.
