29th Critics Choice Film Awards Nominations Announced

The Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) has announced the film category nominations for the 29th Critics Choice Awards this morning. The film music-related categories are listed below. For a full list of nominations, click here. The awards will be given out on January 14, 2024 at the 29th Annual Critics Choice Awards ceremony at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles and will broadcast in the U.S. live on The CW.

‘The Three Musketeers – Part II: Milady’ Soundtrack Released

Milan Records has released a soundtrack album for the French adventure drama The Three Musketeers – Part II: Milady (Les trois mousquetaires: Milady). The album features the film’s original music composed by Guillaume Roussel (Black Beauty, The Spy, Expend4bles, Happy!, 3 Days to Kill, November, The Man with the Iron Heart). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here, where you can also check out the track list. A CD version will be released overseas this Friday, December 15. Listen to the composer’s first two tracks (Vers la Rochelle & Milady et d’Artagnan) after the jump. The label has previously released Roussel’s music from the first part (D’Artagnan) earlier this year. ‘Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever’ Soundtrack Album Details

Wenallt Records will release a soundtrack album for the Danish psychological thriller Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever (Nattevagten – Dæmoner går i arv). The album features the film’s original score composed by Ceiri Torjussen (The Canal, The Bombardment, Jack Goes Home, American Night, All Creatures Here Below, Delhi Crime). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, December 13 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. A CD version will be coming out next year and is available for pre-order here. Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever is written and directed by Ole Bornedal and stars Fanny Bornedal, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Kim Bodnia. The sequel to Bornedal’s original 1994 hit movie follows a young student who has taken the job as the night watch in a forensic department and tries to investigate her parents’ dark past. Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: Ragnarok, The LEGO Movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Royal Tenenbaums, 21Jump Street, The Croods: A New Age) has composed the original score for the upcoming documentary series A Real Bug’s Life. The show is inspired by Pixar’s animated feature A Bug’s Life (scored by Randy Newman) and takes a look into nine different micro bug worlds around the globe, where the forces of nature play out on a miniature scale and where tiny creatures rely on amazing powers and extraordinary alliances to make it through each day. The 5-parter narrated by Awkwafina tells stories of the tiny heroes — from a jumping spider looking for a home on the streets of New York to a Costa Rican orchid bee’s first day on the job making perfume. Hans Zimmer (The Lion King,  Gladiator, The Dark Knight, Dune,Inception, Interstellar) and Steve Mazzaro (The Boss Baby, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, The Rhythm Section) have recently recorded their score for the upcoming animated sequel Kung Fu Panda 4. The film is directed by Mike Mitchell (Trolls, Sky High), co-directed by Stephanie Ma Stine (She-Ra and the Princesses of Power) and stars Jack Black who returns in the title role, as well as Viola Davis, Dustin Hoffman, Awkwafina, James Hong, Bryan Cranston, Ian McShane and Ke Huy Quan. The movie follows Po as he embarks on a journey to fulfill his destiny as the next Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace, but must first find a worthy successor to carry on the legacy of the Dragon Warrior. The album features the show’s original score composed by Lucas Peire & Frank Montasell (Nowhere, Malasaña 32). Also included is the “main theme” song Bullets and Flowers performed by Francis White feat. Nikki Garcia, Goa’s cover of What a Wonderful World, lead actors Pedro Alonso’s & Tristan Ulloa’s rendition of Felicidad & other songs.
