Caldera Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack album for the 1997 Danish period drama The Island on Bird Street (Øen i Fuglegaden) directed by Søren Kragh-Jacobsen, based on the novel of the same title by Uri Orlev and starring Patrick Bergin, Jordan Kiziukh, James Bolam, Jack Warden, Michael Byrne, Heather Tobias and Suzanna Hamilton. The album features the film’s original music composed by Zbigniew Preisner (When a Man Loves a Woman, The Secret Garden, Three Colors, The Queen of Spain, Between Strangers, Dekalog), presented as a 6-part “symphony” of extended suites. Opening in theaters nationwide this week is the animated feature Zootopia 2 directed by Jared Bush & Byron Howard and starring Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Idris Elba, Quinta Brunson, Fortune Feimster, Shakira, Ke Huy Quan, Macaulay Culkin, Patrick Warburton and Nate Torrence. The film’s original score is composed by Michael Giacchino (Up, Ratatouille, Lost, The Batman, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Jurassic World, Inside Out, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, The Incredibles, Star Trek). Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the original song Zoo performed by Shakira last Friday. The details of the soundtrack album for BBC’s Doctor Who spin-off series The War Between the Land and the Sea have been announced. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout & Dead Reckoning, Top Gun: Maverick, Black Adam, Black Widow, His Dark Materials, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, The Wheel of Time). The soundtrack will be released digitally next Friday, December 5 by Silva Screen Records. An additional track, Alison Goldfrapp’s & Balfe’s cover of David Bowie’s Heroes, will be released the following Friday, December 12. A physical version will be coming out next year. As previously reported, a first track (Barlcay’s Theme) is already available to stream/download now. Universal Music has released three soundtrack albums for Apple Corps’ remastered and expanded landmark, UK-produced original documentary series The Beatles Anthology. The albums featuring the Beatles songs from Episodes 1-3, Episodes 4-6 and Episodes 7-9 of the show are now available to stream on all major digital music services. The Beatles Anthology follows John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison & Ringo Starr as they revisit the highs and lows and twists and turns of The Beatles’ long and winding eight years as a band. The series was originally broadcast in 1995 in the U.S. on ABC and in the UK on ITV and has been restored and expanded from eight to nine episodes, including a footage restoration and sound mix overseen by the Apple Corps production team.
