Premiering today is the MGM+ original documentary series Hollywood Black directed by Justin Simien and inspired by the book from historian Donald Bogle. Kris Bowers (Bridgerton, Green Book, King Richard, Secret Invasion, The Color Purple, Haunted Mansion, Space Jam: A New Legacy) has contributed the main titles theme and Camilo Forero (Beckham, Earthstorm) has composed the show’s original score for Bleeding Fingers Music. The 4-parter, which chronicles a century of the Black experience in Hollywood by unearthing personal stories from actors, writers, producers and directors who fought for their place on the page, will be available to stream exclusively on MGM+.
Premiering on Wednesday, August 14, is the Apple TV+ original series Bad Monkey developed by Bill Lawrence and starring Vince Vaughn, L. Scott Caldwell, Meredith Hagner, Rob Delaney, Michelle Monaghan, Alex Moffat, Natalie Martinez, Scott Glenn and Jodie Turner-Smith. The show’s original music is composed by Waz & Jamie Jackson (Cougar Town, Life Sentence, Bluff City Law, Surviving Jack, Rush Hour). WaterTower Music will release a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score, as well as the Tom Petty covers created by the project by artists such as Eddie Vedder, Larkin Poe, Weezer, The War on Drugs & others on October 4. Warner Records has released digital EP featuring three versions of Madonna‘s Like a Prayer from Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine. The 3-track EP features the original version of the track (written by Madonna & Patrick Leonard) from the singer’s 1989 album of the same name, the new Battle Royale Mix produced by Madonna & Leonard and the film’s composer Rob Simonsen, as well as the choir version from movie’s climactic scene. Leadingstone has released a soundtrack album for South Korean Netflix original film Mission: Cross. The album features the movie’s original music composed by Hwang Sang Jun, Park Eun Ji, Lee Sang Min, Lee Tae Hyun and Ryu JiYeon. Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the romantic drama It Ends with Us directed by Justin Baldoni and starring Blake Lively, Baldoni himself, Jenny Slate, Amy Morton, Brandon Sklenar and Hasan Minhaj. The film’s original music is composed by Rob Simonsen (Deadpool & Wolverine, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, The Age of Adaline, The Whale, The Way Back, Foxcatcher, (500) Days of Summer) & Duncan Blickenstaff (Hollywood Stargirl, Alex, Inc., Reboot). Madison Gate Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score today. Nine Inch Nails to Compose Music for Joachim Rønning’s ‘Tron: Ares’

Disney announced at the studio’s presentation at D23 today that Nine Inch Nails will compose the music for the upcoming sci-fi sequel Tron: Ares. The film is directed by Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil) and stars Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan and Gillian Anderson. The follow-up to Disney’s 1982 classic Tron (scored by Wendy Carlos) and 2010’s Tron: Legacy (scored by Daft Punk) follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings. Michael Giacchino has previewed his theme from Marvel Studios’ upcoming feature The Fantastic Four: First Steps at today’s Music of Marvel Studios panel at D23. The composer has already recorded his theme, which first made its debut at last month’s Comic-Con, prior to principal photography on the film, which just started on July 30 at Pinewood Studios in London.
