Varèse Sarabande and Craft Recordings have announced a new picture disc release of the score album for DreamWorks Animation’s 2001 feature Shrek directed by Andrew Adamson & Vicky Jenson and starring Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz & John Lithgow. The album features the film’s original music composed by Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia, The Martian, Kingdom of Heaven, Mulan, The Meg, Man on Fire, Chicken Run) and John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon, Wicked, The Bourne Identity, Solo: A Star Wars Story, X-Men: The Last Stand, Happy Feet). The collectible vinyl features newly designed character artwork, including a hero image of the film’s protagonists on side A and Shrek and Fiona on side B will be released on August 28 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A Barnes & Noble-exclusive variant offering alternate film imagery will also be coming out on the same day. A newly reissued CD edition will be released alongside the vinyl, while the original score album is now available to stream/download on digital platforms. Shrek is returning to theaters for a special 25th anniversary screening run beginning tomorrow, May 15 and is now also available on VOD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD.
