Film Music Reporter has learned that Dario Marianelli has been hired to score Focus Features’ upcoming movie adaptation of Jane Eyre. The movie is directed by Cary Fukunaga, who previously directed 2009’s indie hit Sin Nombre which featured a score by Marcelo Zarvos. The new adaptation stars Mia Wasikowska in the title role, as well as Judi Dench, Michael Fassbender, Jamie Bell and Sally Hawkins. Jane Eyre centers around a mousy governess who softens the heart of her employer and soon discovers that he’s hiding a terrible secret. ‘Hood To Coast’ soundtrack released

Trylee True Records has released an official soundtrack album for the upcoming documentary Hood To Coast. The score for the film was written by composer Nathan Barr. The album features 30 cues from Barr’s score for a running time of around 57 minutes. The documentary directed by Christoph Baaden and Marcie Hume centers around the annual Hood To Coast Relay race, the world’s largest relay race and follows several race teams on their journey. George S. Clinton scoring ‘Salvation Boulevard’

George S. Clinton recently scored the upcoming comedy thriller Salvation Boulevard. The movie stars Greg Kinnear, Ed Harris, Jennifer Connelly, Pierce Brosnan and Marisa Tomei. The film is directed by George Ratiff who previously directed the 2007 thriller Joshua with a score by Nico Muhly. Clinton replaced composer Jeff Beal who was previously assigned to score the film. Salvation Boulevard is set in the world of mega-churches in which a former Deadhead-turned-born again-Christian finds himself on the run from fundamentalist members of his mega-church who will do anything to protect their larger-than-life pastor. Film Music Reporter has learned that Paul Cantelon has recently completed writing the music for the upcoming drama The Music Never Stopped. The films stars Julia Ormond, J.K. Simmons, Tammy Blanchard and Mia Maestro and marks the feature directorial debut for Jim Kohlberg. The movie tells the tale of a father who struggles to bond with his estranged son Gabriel, after Gabriel suffers from a brain tumor that prevents him from forming new memories. Film Music Reporter has learned that the upcoming crime comedy Flypaper will feature a score by composer Mark Mancina. The film centers around a man who is caught in the middle of two simultaneous robberies at the same bank and desperately tries to protect the teller with whom he’s secretly in love. The film is directed by Rob Minkoff, who previously worked with Mancina on the Disney fantasy The Haunted Mansion starring Eddie Murphy. The director also has worked with such composers as Hans Zimmer (The Lion King), Alan Silvestri (Stuart Little 1 & 2) and David Buckley (The Forbidden Kingdom). ‘Black Swan’ and ‘True Grit’ scores disqualified from Oscar consideration

According to Variety, the scores for Black Swan by composer Clint Mansell and True Grit by Carter Burwell have been disqualified from Oscar consideration by the Academy music branch. Both scores were deemed ineligible because they are “diluted by the use of tracked themes or other pre-existing music”. The Black Swan score was heavily adapted by Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake” and much of the True Grit score was based on 19th century hymns.
Also disqualified are the scores for The Fighter composed by Michael Brook and The Kids Are All Right by Carter Burwell, because they are being considered “diminished in impact by the predominant use of songs”. Alexandre Desplat’s score for The King’s Speech, which has been discussed as being potentially disqualified for its use of classical music in some key scenes was ruled eligible for Oscar consideration by the music branch committee. Relativity Music Group has released a soundtrack album for the comedy biopic Casino Jack. The movie directed by George Hickenlooper stars Kevin Spacey, Barry Pepper, Kelly Preston and Jon Lovitz. In the movie, a hot shot Washington DC lobbyist and his protégé go down hard as their schemes to peddle influence lead to corruption and murder. The jazzy score for the film was written by Jonathan Goldsmith. The soundtrack album features 25 tracks from the Goldsmith’s score for a running time of around 37 minutes.
