The Newton Brothers have signed on to score the comedy High School. The composer duo is replacing Harold Faltermeyer who finished writing music for the film a while ago. The original version of the film also featured music by Freescha. The movie marks the directorial feature debut of John Stalberg and stars Adrien Brody, Michael Chiklis and Colin Hanks. The comedy centers on a high school valedictorian who gets baked with the local stoner and finds himself the subject of a drug test. Stalberg also co-wrote the script with Stephen Cusco (The Grudge). Warren Zide (American Pie, Final Destination) is producing with Ray Markovich. High School premiered at last year’s Sundance Film Festival and is currently awaiting a release date. ‘True Blood’ Volume 3 Soundtrack announced

Watertower Music has announced a new soundtrack release for the HBO hit show True Blood. The album includes songs from the show by artists including Karen Olsen featuring Donovan, Neko Case and Nick Cave, Damien Rice, Massive Attack, Nick Lowe and Jace Everett. W.G. Snuffy Walden has been hired to score the upcoming CBS drama A Gifted Man. The show is created by Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich, The Soloist) and stars Patrick Wilson as a well-known surgeon begins seeing his dead ex-wife he starts questioning the meaning of life and his place in the world. Jennifer Ehle, Julie Benz, Liam Aiken and Margo Martindale are co-starring. Carl Beverly and Neal Baer (ER) are executive producing the drama alongside Grant. ‘Footloose’ Soundtrack announced

Atlantic Records and Warner Music Nashville have announced the details of the soundtrack release for the upcoming remake of Footloose. The album includes a new version of the title song Footloose performed by country star Blake Shelton. Also featured on the soundtrack are Zac Brown, The Smashing Pumpkins, Lissie, Cee Lo Green feat. Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Ella Mae Bowen, Victoria Justice & Hunter Hayes and Big & Rich. Check out the complete track list below. None of the film’s score by Deborah Lurie is included on the album. According to Music by Michael Giacchino, the composer has recently recorded music for the pilot of the new FOX drama Alcatraz. While Giacchino is scoring the pilot, Andrea Datzman will be writing the music for the rest of the season. Datzman previously co-scored last year’s J.J. Abrams-produced NBC drama Undercovers with Chris Tilton after Giacchino also scored the pilot. Alcatraz is created by Elizabeth Sarnoff (Lost, Deadwood) and stars Sarah Jones as a San Francisco detective involved in a grisly homicide case that takes her to America’s most infamous prison, where her prime suspect becomes an inmate who died more than 30 years before. Aaron Zigman has taken over scoring duties on the romantic comedy I Don’t Know How She Does It. He is replacing Rachel Portman who was originally attached to score the movie as reported earlier this summer. The film directed by Douglas McGrath stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Pierce Brosnan, Greg Kinnear, Christina Hendricks, Kelsey Grammer, Seth Meyers and Olivia Munn. The comedy follows a working mother who is desperately trying to juggle marriage, children and a high-stress job as a financial executive. Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada, Morning Glory) wrote the screenplay based on a novel by Allison Pearson. Zigman has previously scored the Sarah Jessica Parker-starring film adaptations of Sex and the City. Varese Sarabande has announced a soundtrack release for the thriller Dream House. The album includes the original score from the movie composed by John Debney. Dream House is directed by Jim Sheridan and stars Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts. Film Music Reporter has learned that Sony Classical is the label to release the highly anticipated soundtrack for Steven Spielberg’s The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn. The album includes the score from the movie by John Williams. The soundtrack marks the composer’s first new film score release in over three years since 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. No release date has been set yet, but a release around the movie’s release date overseas in October is expected. The Adventures of Tintin starring Simon Pegg, Daniel Craig, Cary Elwes and Andy Serkis follows Tintin and his friends discover directions to a sunken ship commanded by Capt. Marc Streitenfeld is scoring the upcoming action drama The Grey. The movie is directed by Joe Carnahan and star Liam Neeson, Dermot Mulroney, Dallas Roberts, JoeAnderson and James Badge Dale. The film is based on a short story by Ian Jeffers and centers on a group of oil-rig roughnecks who are left stranded on the sub-arctic tundra after their plane experiences a complete mechanical failure and crashes into the remote Alaskan wilderness. The survivors, battling mortal injuries, biting cold and ravenous hunger, are relentlessly hunted and pursued by a vicious pack of rogue wolves. The project is produced by Ridley and Tony Scott, as well as Carnahan, Jules Daly (The A-Team) and Mickey Liddell (Go, Everwood).
