Marc Streitenfeld is scoring the upcoming action drama The Grey. The movie is directed by Joe Carnahan and star Liam Neeson, Dermot Mulroney, Dallas Roberts, JoeAnderson and James Badge Dale. The film is based on a short story by Ian Jeffers and centers on a group of oil-rig roughnecks who are left stranded on the sub-arctic tundra after their plane experiences a complete mechanical failure and crashes into the remote Alaskan wilderness. The survivors, battling mortal injuries, biting cold and ravenous hunger, are relentlessly hunted and pursued by a vicious pack of rogue wolves. The project is produced by Ridley and Tony Scott, as well as Carnahan, Jules Daly (The A-Team) and Mickey Liddell (Go, Everwood). La-La Land Records has released a new soundtrack set for the sci-fi series Star Trek: The Next Generation. The 3CD-set features more than three hours of previously unreleased music from the show by composers Dennis McCarthy, Jay Chattaway, Don Davis, John Debney and Fred Steiner. TNT:
The most successful new show of the summer on TNT is the sci-fi series Falling Skies. The project starring Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Drew Roy, Sarah Carter and Maxim Knight is produced by Steven Spielberg and centers on an alien invasion of Earth and the resistance formed by the survivor. Also producing are Graham Yost (Justified) and Robert Rodat (writer of Saving Private Ryan). Noah Sorota is scoring the show. The movie is written and directed by Jay and Mark Duplass who worked with the composer on last year’s indie hit Cyrus starring John C. Reilly, Jonah Hill and Marisa Tomei. Jeff Who Lives at Home stars Jason Segel as a man searching for the meaning of life while on a mundane errand to buy some glue for his mother. Ed Helms, Susan Sarandon and Judy Greer are co-starring. ‘The Three Musketeers’ Soundtrack announced

Rough Trade Distribution has announced a soundtrack release for the upcoming 3D adaptation of The Three Musketeers. The soundtrack will be available in some European countries digitally on August 26, 2011 and on CD on September 2. The album includes the original score from the film by Paul Haslinger (Underworld, Death Race), as well as the movie’s title song When We Were Young by Take That. Haslinger’s score was recorded with the Berlin Session Orchestra. For a first one-minute audio clip from the score, click here. The Three Musketeers directed by Paul W.S. Harry Escott Scoring ‘Shame’

Harry Escott has recently recorded his score for the upcoming drama Shame. The movie is directed by Steve McQueen who previously directed the 2008 BAFTA-nominated drama Hunger. Shame stars Michael Fassbender, Carey Mulligan, James Badge Dale, Nicole Beharie and Hannah Ware. The drama centers on a thirtysomething man living in New York who is battling his sex addiction and has to deal with the arrival of his troubled sister. McQueen co-wrote the screenplay with Abi Morgan (Brick Lane, the upcoming The Iron Lady). Iain Canning and Emile Sherman (The King’s Speech) are producing. Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:
The sci-fi adventure prequel Rise of the Planet of the Apes directed by Rupert Hyatt and starring James Franco, Freida Pinto, Andy Serkis, John Lithgow and Brian Cox is already guaranteed to top the weekend box office. The film’s music is composed by Patrick Doyle. A soundtrack album featuring the Doyle’s score will be released on CD later this month on Varese Sarabande. The other wide release of the week is the comedy The Change-Up directed by David Dobkin and starring Ryan Reynolds, Jason Bateman, Leslie Mann, Alan Arkin and Olivia Wilde. Milan Records has announced a soundtrack album for the drama The Last Circus. The album includes the original score by composer Roque Banos (The Machinist, the upcoming Intruders) performed by the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra. Also featured on the soundtrack is a rendition of Raphael’s Balada de la Trompet, The soundtrack will be released on August 16, 2011. To pre-order the CD, visit Amazon. The Last Circus is written and directed by Álex de la Iglesia and centers on a “happy” clown who is forcibly recruited to serve in the Spanish Civil War, where he massacres an entire platoon with a machete still in costume. The film centers on a man who begins an affair with the daughter of the family who lives across the street. Ian Helfer and Jay Reiss wrote the project’s screenplay. Varese Sarabande to Release Thomas Newman’s ‘The Help’ Score

Varese Sarabande has announced a score release for the upcoming drama The Help. The film’s music is composed by Thomas Newman. The soundtrack will be released on September 13, 2011.
