Sean Callery has been tapped to score the upcoming CBS drama Elementary. The show is a modern day take on Sherlock Holmes set in New York and follows the iconic detective who has been assigned to live with his worst nightmare-sober coach, Dr. Joan Watson. Jonny Lee Miller stars as Holmes and Lucy Liu and Aidan Quinn are co-starring. Rob Doherty created the series is based on the works of Arthur Conan Doyle and is also executive producing with Sarah Timberman & Carl Beverly (Justified, Kidnapped) and Michael Cuesta (Homeland). ‘Hit & Run’ Soundtrack Details

Lakeshore Records has announced the details of the soundtrack release for the romantic action comedy Hit & Run. The album includes the music from the film by artists including Bob Mervak, Ishmael Jingo, Lou Rawls, Kool and the Gang, John Martyn, Dazz Band and The Highlighters. The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 21, 2012 and physically on September 25. The CD is now available for pre-order on Amazon and audio clips can be checked out below. Hit & Run is directed by Dax Shepard and David Palmer and stars Shepard, Kristen Bell, Bradley Cooper, Tom Arnold, Beau Bridges, Kristin Chenoweth, David Koechner, Michael Rosenbaum, Joy Bryant and Ryan Hansen. Paul Leonard-Morgan has signed on to score the upcoming action thriller The Numbers Station. The film is directed by Kaspar Barfoed and stars John Cusack as a disgraced black-ops agent who is tasked with a job of protecting a code operator for an isolated covert CIA broadcast station. Malin Akerman, Lucy Griffiths and Liam Cunningham are co-starring in the movie written by F. Scott Frasier. Marvin Hamlisch has passed away at age 68. The composer died Monday in Los Angeles after a brief illness. During his career, he received twelve Academy Award nominations and was honored with the award three times for the title song and score for Sidney Pollack’s The Way We Were starring Barbara Streisand and Robert Redford and the original score for the Paul Newman- and Redford-starring The Sting in 1973. He also received multiple Golden Globes, Emmy Awards and Grammy Awards over almost four decades. Among the composer’s other film music projects are the James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me, for which wrote the score and the song Nobody Does It Better, the sports drama Ice Castle, 1982’s Sophie’s Choice starring Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline, 1980’s Oscar-winning drama Ordinary People directed by Robert Redford and Woody Allen’s Take the Money and Run and Bananas. Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for Alfred Hitchcock’s classic 1959 thriller North by Northwest starring Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint, James Mason and Martin Landau. The album features the original recording of the complete score in stereo from new masters. The music is composed and conducted by Bernard Herrmann. Andrew Hewitt is scoring the upcoming indie comedy The Double. The film is directed by Richard Ayoade and stars Jesse Eisenberg and Mia Wasikowska. The movie is based on Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s novella of the same name about an insignificant man who is driven to near breakdown by the appearance of his doppelganger. The comedy is co-written by Ayoade and Avi Korine (Mister Lonely) and produced by Amina Dasmal (Siren) and Robin Fox (The Caller) of Alcove Entertainment. ‘Compliance’ Soundtrack Details

Milan Records will be releasing a soundtrack album for the indie drama Compliance. The album features the film’s original score composed by Heather McIntosh. The soundtrack will be released on August 14, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also check out audio clips from all tracks on the release. Compliance is written and directed by Craig Zobel (Great World of Sound) and stars Ann Dowd and Dreama Walker. The film follows an overworked manager at a fast food restaurant, who receives a call from a police officer accusing one of her employees of stealing from a customer. The movie premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival where it was picked up for domestic distribution by Magnolia Pictures. The drama will be released in select cities on August 17. Stephen Warbeck Scoring ‘Jadoo’

Stephen Warbeck has recently recorded his score for the British comedy Jadoo. The film is written and directed by Amit Gupta and stars Amara Karan, Harish Patel, Kulvinder Ghir and Tom Mison. The movie follows two brothers and chefs who fell out with each other and are running rival restaurants on opposite sides of the same road and a daughter who is planning her marriage and is determined that they will both attend. Richard Holmes (Waking Ned Devine), Amanda Faber, Isebelle Georgeaux who previously worked with Gupta on last year’s Resistance are producing for AIR Productions and Nikki Parrott is producing for Tigerlily Films. Academy Award-winning cinematographer Roger Pratt (Batman, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) is also involved in the project and Eddie Hamilton (X-Men: First Class) is editing the picture. Two new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi thriller Total Recall directed by Len Wiseman and starring Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Bryan Cranston, Jessica Biel, Bill Nighy, John Cho and Ethan Hawke. Harry Gregson-Williams has composed the film’s original score. Madison Gate Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music earlier this week. Also opening wide is the family movie Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days directed by David Bowers and starring Zachary Gordon, Robert Capron, Devon Bostick, Rachael Harris and Steve Zahn. The film’s score is composed by Edward Shearmur (Charlie’s Angels, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow) who previously scored last year’s second installment in the series. ‘Hell on Wheels’ Soundtrack Details

Entertainment One Music will be releasing a soundtrack album for the AMC hit series Hell on Wheels. The album features the show’s main theme composed by Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel) who has recently received his first Emmy nomination for his work on the show, as well as selections from the series’ score from the first season composed by Kevin Kiner (CSI: Miami, Star Wars: The Clone Wars). The soundtrack will be released on August 7, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on iTunes, where you can also check out audio clips from all 34 tracks on the release. Hell on Wheels created by Joe and Tony Gayton (Faster) is set in 1865 and centers on a former Confederate soldier, who is determined to exact revenge on the Union soldiers who murdered his wife.
