Premiering on Tuesday, March 4, is the new A&E drama Those Who Kill developed by Glen Morgan based on the Danish television series Den som dræber and starring Chloe Sevigny, James D’Arcy, James Morrison and Omid Abtahi. Chromatic’s and Glass Candy’s Johnny Jewel (Bronson) is composing the show’s original score. Those Who Kill follows a newly promoted homicide detective who tracks down a serial killer while coming to terms with her past. The drama will air every Tuesday night on A&E. The film is directed by Thomas Carter and stars Jim Caviezel, Laura Dern, Michael Chiklis and Alexander Ludwig. The movie follows the high school team of De La Salle and its young coach Bob Ladouceur who turned the perennial loser into a legend by launching a streak of 138 straight victories. Scott Marshall Smith (The Score, Men of Honor) has written the screenplay based on the book of the same title by Neil Hayes. ‘Need for Speed’ Soundtrack Details

Interscope Records will release a soundtrack album for the action movie Need for Speed. The album features the original song Hero by Kid Cudi feat. Skylar Grey, as well as two new songs by Aloe Blacc and a new remix of All Along the Watchtower by Jamie N Commons. The soundtrack will be released on March 11, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Need for Speed is directed by Scott Waugh and stars Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper, Imogen Poots, Scott Mescudi, Ramon Rodriguez, Michael Keaton, Rami Malek, Dakota Johnson and Harrison Gilbertson. The movie based on the video game follows a muscle car mechanic and street racer who gets out of prison determined to settle the score with the man responsible for his false conviction. Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the thriller Non-Stop directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and starring Liam Neeson, Julianne Moore, Anson Mount, Michellle Dockery, Scott McNairy, Lupita Nyong’o and Corey Stoll. The film’s original music is composed by John Ottman (X2, The Usual Suspects, Valkyrie) who previously scored the director’s features Unknown, Orphan and House of Wax. Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score digitally earlier this week and a CD version will be coming out on March 4. Also opening wide is the biblical drama Son of God produced by Mark Burnett & Roma Downey and starring Diogo Morgado, Greg Hicks, Adrian Schiller, Darwin Shaw, Sebastian Knapp, Joe Wredden, Simon Kunz and Paul Marc Davis. Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe who also scored the mini-series The Bible, which the film is based on, have composed the movie’s original music. Republic Records has released a soundtrack featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs by Cee Lo Green, OneRepublic, Steven Stern & George Krikes and Hillsong United. ‘Tom at the Farm’ Soundtrack Details

A soundtrack album will be released for Xavier Dolan’s drama Tom at the Farm (Tom à la ferme). The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Gabriel Yared (The English Patient, The Talented Mr. Ripley, 1408). The soundtrack will be released on March 24, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips are embedded after the jump. Tom at the Farm is co-written and directed by Dolan who also stars in the film alongside Pierre-Yves Cardinal, Lise Roy, Evelyne Brochu, Manuel Tadros, Jacques Lavallee, Anne Caron and Olivier Morin. The French drama about a a gay man who attends his lover’s funeral only to learn that none of his friends and family knew of the deceased’s sexuality nor their relationship premiered at last year’s Venice and Toronto Film Festival and will be released in France next month. Ennio Morricone in Conversation with Quentin Tarantino

On March 18, legendary Italian composer Ennio Morricone will appear at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Bing Theater for a discussion of his far-ranging career. Academy Award-winning writer/director Quentin Tarantino will be moderating the conversation. Morricone whose credits include such classic as The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Once Upon a Time in the West and The Mission, as well as numerous films directed by Brian De Palma, Warren Beatty and Giuseppe Tornatore will make a rare visit to Los Angeles, where he will also be conducting his first-ever L.A. live performance with a 200-member orchestra and choir performing a selection of his works at Nokia Theatre L.A. Academy Celebrates Nominated Song & Scores at Oscar Concert

Last night, the Academy of the Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences (AMPAS) presented its first-ever official Oscar concert at UCLA’s Royce Hall celebrating the nominated scores and songs of the 86th Academy Awards. The event was hosted by rapper Common and produced by Academy governors Charles Fox and Arthur Hamilton. To start off the show, Fox conducted an 80-piece orchestra consisting of studio musicians with a performance of Jerry Goldsmith’s Fanfare for Oscar. Soundtrack for Showtime’s ‘Shameless’ Announced

Varese Sarabande will release the first-ever soundtrack album for the Showtime original series Shameless. The album features a selection of songs from the show compiled by music supervisor Ann Kline, including the theme song The Luck You Got by The High Strung. Other artists featured on the soundtrack include The Moog, The Wild Yaks, FidLAr, Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, JBM and Chris Pureka. The album will be released on April 15, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Shameless is created by Paul Abbott based on the British TV series of the same title and stars William H. Macy, Emmy Rossum, Justin Chatwin, Ethan Cutkosky, Shanola Hampton and Steve Howey. The comedy drama centers on the dysfunctional family of Frank Gallagher, a single father of six children who spends his days drunk, while his kids learn to take care of themselves. Thomas Newman has signed on to score the upcoming legal drama The Judge. The film is directed by David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers, Shanghai Knights, The Change-Up) and stars Robert Downey Jr., Robert Duvall, Vincent D’Onofrio, Vera Farmiga, Melissa Leo, Dax Shepard, Leighton Meester and Billy Bob Thornton. The movie follows a big-city lawyer who returns to his childhood home where his estranged father, the town’s judge, is suspected of murder. Carl Thiel is composing the score for From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series. The show based on Robert Rodriguez’s 1996 cult film of the same title starring George Clooney & Quentin Tarantino stars D.J. Cotrona, Zane Holtz, Jesse Garcia, Don Johnson, Robert Patrick, Madison Davenport, Brandon Soo Hoo, Jake Busey and Wilmer Valderrama. The 10-episode series follows a bank robber, Seth Gecko and his violent, unpredictable brother, Richard “Richie” Gecko, who are wanted by the FBI and two Texas Rangers after a bank heist left several people dead.
