‘Justified’ Soundtrack Released

justifiedMadison Gate Records has released a soundtrack album for the FX hit drama Justified. The album features the show’s title song Long Hard Times to Come by Gangstagrass feat. T.O.N.E-z, as well as other songs from the series by artists including Dave Alvin, Beverley Staunton, Lynda Kay, Robert J. Walsh and Ryan Kickland. The soundtrack is now available as an On-Demand CD-R on Amazon and digitally on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. Justified starring Timothy Olyphant, Nick Searcy, Joelle Carter, Jacob Pitts, Erica Tazel, Natalie Zea and Walton Goggins just returned for a fourth season this past Tuesday. John Williams was honored with the Critics’ Choice Movie Award in the Best Score category for his music for Steven Spielberg’s historical drama Lincoln at tonight’s 18th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards ceremony in Los Angeles. The other composers nominated in the Best Score category were Alexandre Desplat (Argo, Moonrise Kingdom), Mychael Danna (Life of Pi) and Jonny Greenwood (The Master). Williams is also nominated for a Golden Globe, a BAFTA Award and has just received his 49th Academy Award nomination earlier today. stokerThe details of the soundtrack album for the psychological thriller Stoker have been revealed. The soundtrack features the film’s original score composed by Clint Mansell (Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream). Also included is the original song Becomes the Color by Emily Wells, an original piano piece by composed by Philip Glass, as well as Nancy Sinatra’s & Lee Hazelwood’s Summer Wine. The soundtrack will be released on February 26, 2013. Stoker directed by Park Chan-wook and starring Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode, Dermot Mulroney and Jacki Weaver centers on a teenage girl who must deal with the unexpected appearance of a mysterious uncle following the death of her father. broken-city-soundtrackMetropolis Movie Music will release a soundtrack album for Allen Hughes’ crime thriller Broken City. The album features the film’s original score composed by Atticus Ross (The Social Network), Claudia Sarne and Leopold Ross who previously worked with the director on The Book of Eli and the TV series Touching Evil. The soundtrack will be released digitally on January 15, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips will be added to this article within the next week. Broken City stars Mark Wahlberg as a Brooklyn detective who is hired by a powerful politician, played by Russell Crowe, to identify his wife’s lover, who is subsequently found and killed. Catherine Zeta-Jones, Kyle Chandler, Barry Pepper, Natalie Martinez, Jeffrey Wright, Justin Chambers, James Ransone and Griffin Dunne are co-starring. werethmillersLudwig Göransson and Theodore Shapiro are co-scoring the upcoming comedy We’re the Millers. The film is directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber and stars Jennifer Aniston, Jason Sudekis, Emma Roberts, Ed Helms, Will Poulter and Kathryn Hahn. The movie follows a veteran pot dealer who creates a fake family as part of his plan to move a huge shipment of weed into the U.S. from Mexico. Tucker Tooley & Vincent Newman (A Man Apart, Felon), Happy Walters and David Heyman (Harry Potter series, I Am Legend) are producing the New Line Cinema production. bombshellColumbia Records will release the soundtrack for Bombshell, the musical within NBC’s hit show Smash. The album features 22 original songs that make up the Broadway-caliber cast recording of the musical. The songs composed by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman on the Bombshell soundtrack span both seasons of Smash. The soundtrack will be released on February 12, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips will be added to this article soon. A previous soundtrack album featuring songs from the first season has been released last spring. Smash starring Katherine McPhee, Megan Hilty, Debra Messing, Tom Levitt, Christian Borle and Anjelica Huston has been nominated for several Emmy Awards (including two nods for the music) and is up for Best Comedy/Musical at this year’s Golden Globe Awards. ‘Storage 24’ Soundtrack Announced

The album features the film’s original score composed by Christian Henson (The Devil’s Double, Severance, Hysteria). The soundtrack is now available digitally on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. Storage 24 is directed by Johannes Roberts and stars Noel Clarke, Colin O’Donoghue, Antonia Campbell-Huges and Laura Haddock. CAS Nominations Announced

The Cinema Audio Society has announced the nominees for the 49th Annual CAS Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing. Since last year, scoring mixers are included in the awards. In the Motion Pictures – Live Action category, the scoring mixers honored include Jonathan Allen for the movie musical Les Miserables, Shawn Murphy for Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln (scored by John Williams) and Simon Rhodes for the James Bond film Skyfall (scored by Thomas Newman). In the Motion Pictures – Animated category, the nominated scoring mixers are Andrew Dudman for Pixar’s Brave (scored by Patrick Doyle), Dennis Sands for Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie (music by Danny Elfman), Shawn Murphy for Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax (score by John Powell), Peter Cobbin for Dreamworks Animation’s Rise of the Guardians (music by Alexandre Desplat) and Alan Meyerson for Disney’s Wreck-It-Ralph (scored by Henry Jackman).
