deep-space-nineLa-La Land Records has announced the details of the new soundtrack release for the sci-fi series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The 4-CD set features selections from all seven original seasons of the show. The first disc includes music of composer Dennis McCarthy (Star Trek: Generations); the second disc features the music of composer Jay Chattaway; composers featured on the fourth disc include John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Iron Man 2), David Bell, Richard Bellis, Gregory Smith and Paul Baillargeon and the fourth disc entitled The Lost Album contains an album assembly of material that was prepped by music producers and the composers for a soundtrack compilation that was never released. The Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Collection is limited to 3000 copies and is now available for pre-order on La-La Land’s website, where you can also check out audio clips.

titanic-blood-and-steelRoba Digital will release a soundtrack album for the mini-series Titanic: Blood & Steel. The album features the original score from the series composed by Maurizio De Angelis. The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 15, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out after the jump. Titanic: Blood & Steel is directed by Ciaran Donnelly (The Tudors) and stars Chris Noth, Neve Campbell, Derek Jacobi, Kevin Zegers, Ophelia Lovibond, Billy Carter, Massimo Ghini, Branwell Donaghey and Martin McCann. The 12-part series focuses on the the process of building the ship from the ground up and the people who made the ship a reality against the class-bound backdrop of Edwardian Belfast, Northern Ireland, where financial pressures led to fatal compromises. The album features the film’s original score composed by Brian Tyler (The Expendables, Eagle Eye, Fast Five). The soundtrack is limited to 3000 copies and is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also listen to audio clips. John Dies at the End is directed by Don Coscarelli and stars Paul Giamatti, Chase Williamson, Rob Mayes, Clancy Brown, Glynn Turman, Doug Jones, Daniel Roebuck, Jonny Weston and Fabianne Therese. Tyler has previously scored the director’s last feature Bubba Ho-Tep. ‘Weeds’ Season 8 Soundtrack Released

weedsLionsgate Records has released a new soundtrack album for the Showtime hit series Weeds. The album features songs from the eighth and final season of the show by artists including Family of the Year, The Nervous Wreckords, Winterpills, Charlie Mars, Walter Spencer, Shivaree, The Steamboat Cabaret and Rilo Kiley. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out after the jump. The album marks fifth soundtrack release for the series. Weeds is created by Jenji Kohan and stars Mary-Louise Parker, Elizabeth Perkins, Tonye Patano, Romany Malco, Indigo and Hunter Parrish. passionQuartet Records has announced a soundtrack album for Brian De Palma’s upcoming thriller Passion. The album features the film’s original score composed by Pino Donaggio who has previously collaborated with the director on such films as Body Double, Dressed to Kill, Carrie, Blow Out and Home Videos. The soundtrack will be released on March 21, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips are available on the label’s official website and more clips can be checked out below. Passion is a remake of the French psychodrama Love Crime (Crime d’amour) and stars Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace. The film premiered at last year’s Venice Film Festival and will be released in France later this week. The album features a remix of the main titles theme of the show composed by Bear McCreary, as well as several songs used in the third season of the zombie series by artists including Jamie N Commons, Voxhaul Broadcast, Baby Bee, Emily Kinney and Lauren Cohan, Delta Spirit, Of Monsters and Men and Fink. The soundtrack will be released on March 19, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Walking Dead currently airs every Sunday night on AMC. The album features the film’s original music composed by Aaron Zigman (The Notebook, Bridge to Terabithia). The composer recorded his score with a 100 piece orchestra and choir at Abbey Road Studios in London. The soundtrack has recently been released digitally and is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. Escape from Planet Earth is directed by Cal Brunker and features the voice talent of Brendan Fraser, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Alba, Rob Corddry, James Gandolfini and Craig Robinson. The film is set on the planet Baab, where admired astronaut Scorch Supernova is a national hero to the blue alien population. The other nominated composers in the category included John Williams (The Adventures of Tintin), Ludovic Bource (The Artist), Howard Shore (Hugo), Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight Rises) and Austin Wintory (Journey). In the Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media, T Bone Burnett, Taylor Swift, John Paul White & Joy Williams were honored for the original song Safe & Sound performed by Swift & The Civil Wars from the hit movie The Hunger Games. Thomas Newman Wins BAFTA for ‘Skyfall’

baftaThomas Newman has received his second BAFTA for his score for the latest James Bond film Skyfall directed by Sam Mendes and starring Daniel Craig in the Original Music category. Newman accepted the award in person at the awards ceremony at the Royal Opera House in London. He was nominated alongside Dario Marianelli (Anna Karenina), Alexandre Desplat (Argo), Mychael Danna (Life of Pi) and John Williams (Lincoln). The composer has previously received the award for his music for American Beauty in 2000, his first collaboration with Mendes. Newman is also up for an Academy Award for his Skyfall score.
