Danielle Diego to Head Fox Music

foxmusic20th Century Fox Film has promoted Danielle Diego to EVP of Fox Music. In her new position, she will be responsible for overseeing music supervision for films across all Fox Film Divisions, including 20th Century Fox Film, Fox Searchlight, Fox 2000 and Fox Animation. Diego worked at Fox for 17 years and previously served as SVP of Fox Music and music supervised such hit films as Life of Pi, Night at the MuseumRio, X-Men: The Last StandIce Age: Continental Drift and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, as well as the upcoming animated feature Epic.

son-luxSon Lux is composing the score for the upcoming movies The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Him and The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Hers. The double feature is written and directed by Ned Benson and stars Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, William Hurt, Jess Weixler, Nina Arianda, Viola Davis, Isabelle Huppert, Bill Hader and Ciaran Hinds. The films follow a New York City couple during a difficult time in their marriage from the perspectives of the restaurant-owner husband and of the wife, who goes back to college. Cassandra Kulukundis and Kirk D’Amico (Kinsey, Margin Call) are producing the Unison Films and Myriad Pictures production. The project marks Son Lux’s first major film scoring assignment. cliffmartinezBroadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) has announced today that Cliff Martinez will be honored with the Richard Kirk Award for outstanding career achievement at this year’s BMI Film & Television Awards. The Grammy-nominated composer will be the first recipient of the award who is also in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Martinez started out in bands including Captain Beefheart, The Weirdos, Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Dickies before scoring his first movie, Sex, Lies, and Videotape directed by Steven Soderbergh. He went on to collaborate with the director multiples times on such films as Kafka, The Limey, Traffic, Solaris and Contagion. The composer’s other film scoring credits include Drive (for which he received a Broadcast Film Critics Award nomination), Arbitrage, The Lincoln Lawyer, Narc, Wicker Park and Wonderland. He has recently scored two movies currently playing in theaters: Robert Redford’s The Company You Keepand Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers (co-composed with Skrillex). He also wrote the music for Nicolas Winding Refn’s Only God Forgives starring Ryan Gosling, which is set to be released in the US on July 19, 2013. Read the rest of this entry »

grand-canyonLa-La Land Records has announced an expanded release of the original motion picture score to the 1991 feature film Grand Canyon written and directed by Lawrence Kasdan and starring Kevin Kline, Mary McDonald, Danny Glover and Steve Martin. The album features the movie’s original score composed by James Newton Howard. The special limited edition soundtrack contains more than 25 minutes of score not found on the original soundtrack release. the-salamanderPrometheus Records and Tadlow Music have announced the world premiere recording of the complete score for the 1981 thriller The Salamander directed by Peter Zinner and starring Franco Nero, Anthony Quinn, Martin Balsam, Sybil Dannng, Christopher Lee, Eli Wallach and Claudia Cardinale. The music composed by Jerry Goldsmith has been newly recorded in by the 85-piece City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and 80-voice Choir conducted by Nic Raine. Also featured on the album as two bonus tracks are two concert suites from Goldsmith’s score for The Cassandra Crossing and Ransom. jeff-graceJeff Grace is reuniting with director Kelly Reichardt on the upcoming thriller Night Moves. The film stars Jesse Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning and Peter Sarsgaard as three radical environmentalists who come together to blow up a hydroelectric dam – the very source and symbol of the resource-devouring industrial culture they despise. Reichardt (Wendy and Lucy) co-wrote the script with Jonathan Raymond (Mildred Pierce). Neil Kopp (Paranoid Park) & Anish Savjani are producing the independent feature with Chris Maybach & Saemi Kim (Martha Marcy May Marlene) and Rodrigo Teixeira (Frances Ha). ‘Mud’ Soundtrack Announced

mudLakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack release for Jeff Nichols’ drama Mud. The album features the film’s original score composed by David Wingo (All the Real Girls, The Sitter) who previously collaborated with the director on 2011’s Take Shelter. Also included is music by Jeff McIlwain, the country-punk rock band Lucero and its frontman Ben Nichols, as well as two tracks by the Australian instrumental rock band Dirty Three. The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 23, 2013. Audio clips are available after the jump. Mud written and directed by Nichols stars Matthew McConaughey, Tye Sheridan, Sam Shepard and Reese Witherspoon. The movie follows two boys who find a man named Mud hiding out on an island in the Mississippi. The film premiered at last year’s Cannes Film Festival and has been picked up by Roadside Attractions for a theatrical release on April 26, 2013. Read the rest of this entry »

The movie directed by Peter Cornwell (The Haunting in Connecticut) is based on the short story Gramma by Stephen King about two young boys who go with their single mother to take care of their  grandmother and discover that she’s a witch who made a pact with a dark force many years before. Frances O’Connor, Dylan McDermott, Chandler Riggs, Joel Courtney, Shirley Knight, Mark Duplass and Chris Browning are starring in the movie. Matt Greenberg (1408, Reign of Fire) has adapted the short story for the screen. Jason Blum (Insidious, Paranormal Activity) is producing the project through his Blumhouse Productions company, alongside McG (Charlie’s Angels, Terminator Salvation) and Mary Viola for Wonderhouse Sound and Vision. ‘Evil Dead’ Soundtrack Details

evil-deadThe full soundtrack details of the soundtrack release for the horror remake Evil Dead have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score composed by Roque Banos (The Machinist, Sexy Beast). The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 9, 2013 by La-La Land Records. A physical version featuring 25 additional minutes of music will be available on the label’s official website on the same date and is now also available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out below. Evil Dead is directed by Fede Alvarez and stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas and Elizabeth Blackmore. Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert are producing the Ghost House Pictures and TriStar Pictures production, which has been released in theaters this past Friday and is now playing nationwide. lecumedesjoursMercury Records will release a soundtrack album for Michel Gondry’s fantasy drama Mood Indigo (L’ecume des jours). The album features the film’s original score composed by Étienne Charry. Also included is the original song Mais, Aime La by Loane, a number of jazz standards by Duke Ellington, Shanklin Ray’s Bertha’s Thème from Fritz the Cat, as well as other songs from the film by Scaggs Boz, The Lumineers and Mia Doi Todd. The soundtrack will be released in France on April 22, 2013. No word yet on a domestic release. Mood Indigo marks Gondry’s first French language feature and stars Romain Duris, Audrey Tautou, Gad Elmaleh and Omar Sy. The film  follows an inventor who meets and falls for a woman who gets sick after their nuptials with an affliction that can only be treated by surrounding her with flowers.
