The music is composed and conducted by Jerry Goldsmith. Alan Silvestri has signed on to score the upcoming action comedy sequel Red 2. The film is directed by Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest, Fun with Dick and Jane) and stars Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Byung Hun Lee, Brian Cox and Neal McDonough. In the movie, retired black-ops CIA agent Frank Moses reunites his unlikely team of elite operatives for a global quest to track down a missing portable nuclear device. Jon Hoeber & Erich Hoeber (Red, Battleship) have written the screenplay and Lorenzo DiBonaventura (Transformers series, G.I. The album features the film’s original score composed by Nick Urata (Crazy, Stupid, Love, Ruby Sparks), as well as the title song Feeling of Being (What Maisie Knew) by Lucy Schwartz. mortal-instrumentsAtli Örvarsson has taken over scoring duties on the fantasy adventure The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. The film is directed by Harald Zwart and stars Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, Lena Headey, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Aidan Turner, Robert Sheehan, Kevin Durand and Jared Harris. The movie is based on the first book of the bestselling Young Adult book series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare and follows a teen who discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. Jessica Postigo has adapted the material for the screen. giacchinoMichael Giacchino confirmed during a Q&A at a concert featuring the world premiere performance of his Star Trek score performed live to projection in Lucerne, Switzerland this weekend that he is attached to score Brad Bird’s upcoming sci-fi adventure Tomorrowland. The film is set to star George Clooney and Hugh Laurie. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but according to Hitfix, the movie is supposed to follow a “teenage girl, a genius middle-aged manand a pre-pubescent girl robot who attempt to get to and unravel what happened to Tomorrowland, which exists in an alternative dimension, in order to save Earth”. Damon Lindelof (Lost, Prometheus) is writing the screenplay with Bird based on a concept by himself and Jeff Jensen and is also producing the project with Bird. Tomorrowland will mark the composer’s fourth collaboration with Bird following Pixar’s The Incredibles & Ratatouille and Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. Read the rest of this entry »

O’Bannon (Farscape) and starring Grant Bowler, Julie Benz, Stephanie Leonidas, Jaime Murray, Tony Curran, Graham Greene, Mia Kirshner and Fionnula Flanagan. Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica, The Walking Dead) is composing the show’s score. It has been announced this past week that the composer’s new label Sparks & Shadows will release a soundtrack album later this year. A soundtrack for the crossover MMO video game is already available. Defiance is set in a post-apocalyptic future St. Louis after a lengthy war on Earth between humans and a consortium of invading alien races has completely transformed the surface of the planet. Bell wrote the screenplay with Matthew Peterman who is also producing the FilmDistrict, Sierra/Affinity and Incentive Filmed Entertainment Fund production with Steven Schneider (InsidiousThe Bay) and Morris Paulson. Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

42Expected to top the weekend box office is the sports drama 42 written and directed by Brian Helgeland and stars Chadwick Boseman, Harrison Ford, Nicole Beharie, Alan Tudyk, Christopher Meloni, Ryan Merriman, Brad Beyer and T.R. Knight. The film’s original score is composed by Mark Isham (CrashA River Runs Through It). WaterTower Music has released two soundtracks, including an album featuring the songs from the movie and a track from Isham’s score (click here for our announcement including audio clips), as well as an album featuring the composer’s score (audio clips and the full details are available here).
