Universal Music Group’s Def Jam Recordings will release a soundtrack album for the action thriller Fast & Furious 6. The album features the songs from the film, including the original track We Own It (Fast & Furious) by 2 Chainz and Wiz Khalifa. Also included is T.I.’s Ball (feat. Lil Wayne), deadmau5’s Failbait (feat. Cypress Hill) and Ludacris’ Rest of my Life (feat. Usher and David Guetta). Check out the full track list after the jump. Only one new movie is opening wide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the sci-fi action film Oblivion directed by Joseph Kosinski and starring Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman, Andrea Riseborough, Olga Kurylenko, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Melissa Leo. The film’s score is composed by Anthony Gonzalez of M83 and Joseph Trapanese (TRON: Uprising, The Raid: Redemption). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the score, as well as an original end titles song by M83 featuring Norwegian singer-songwriter Susanne Sundfor earlier this week. Opening in limited release is the horror film The Lords of Salem written and directed by Rob Zombie and starring Sheri Moon Zombie, Bruce Davidson, Jeffrey Daniel Phillips, Ken Foree, Patricia Quinn, Dee Wallace, Maria Conchita Alonso, Judy Geeson and Meg Foster. The film’s original score is composed by John 5 & Griffin Boyce. Geffen Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the score, as well as songs from the film by artists including Manfred Mann, Leviathan The Fleeing Serpent, Rick James, Rush and The Velvet Underground. Carter Burwell to Score ‘Thor: The Dark World’

According to the film’s latest poster, Carter Burwell will be scoring the superhero sequel Thor: The Dark World. The movie is directed by Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones, The Emperor’s New Clothes) and stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins. The sequel is set one year after The Avengers and follows the title character on a battle to save all the Nine Realms from a mysterious enemy older than the universe itself. Christopher Yost, Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (The Chronicles of Narnia, Captain America: The First Avenger) have written the script based on a story by Don Payne (Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer). ‘Stuck in Love’ Soundtrack Details

Varese Sarabande will release the official soundtrack for the indie comedy drama Stuck in Love. The album features the film’s original score composed, arranged, performed and produced by Mike Mogis and Nathaniel Walcott (from Bright Eyes). Also included are three new songs: At Your Door by Mogis and Walcott featuring Big Harp, Somersaults In Spring by Friends of Gemini (Mogis, Walcott and Corina Figueroa Escamilla) and You Are Your Mother’s Child by Conor Oberst. Other artists featured on the album include Bright Eyes, Elliott Smith, Nat & Alex Wolff, Wallpaper Airplanes, Like Pioneers, Rio Bravo and Bill Ricchini. The soundtrack will be released on June 11, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Pino Donaggio Scoring ‘Patrick’

This week, Pino Donaggio has recorded his score for the upcoming horror thriller Patrick. The film directed by Mark Hartley is a re-imagining of the 1970’s Australian chiller of the same title about a comatose hospital patient who harasses and kills through his powers of telekinesis to claim his private nurse as his own. Jason Gallagher stars in the title role, along with Sharni Vinson, Rachel Griffiths and Charles Dance. Justin King has written the screenplay and Antony I. Ginnane is producing the project. Donaggio’s score was recorded in Studio CNSO in Prague. Patrick is set to premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) this summer and will be released in Australia in September. Lucas Vidal Takes Over ‘Fast & Furious’ Series

Lucas Vidal is currently finishing up work on the highly anticipated action thriller Fast & Furious 6. The film is directed by Justin Lin who helmed the previous three installments in the series, including 2011’s top-grossing Fast Five. The movie stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Luke Evans, Gina Carano and John Ortiz. Vidal recently recorded his full orchestral and electronic hybrid score at Abbey Road and Air Studios in London. At age 28, he becomes the youngest composer to ever score a major studio picture in the $100 Mio.+ budget range. In only a few years, the classically trained composer has moved from writing concert pieces and scoring independent films, to Spanish box office hits including Sleep Tight (Mientras duermes) and major international productions such as The Raven starring John Cusack and The Cold Light of Day starring Henry Cavill & Bruce Willis, leading to his first major studio tentpole assignment. ‘Peeples’ Soundtrack EP Announced

Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack for the comedy Peeples. The EP features three new songs by Grammy- and Tony-nominated songwriter/producer Stephen Bray with performances by actors Craig Robinson and David Alan Grier. Also included are two tracks from the movie’s original score composed by Aaron Zigman (The Notebook, Bridge to Terabithia). The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 7, 2013. Howard Shore Scoring ‘Jimmy Picard’

Howard Shore has composed the score for the upcoming drama Jimmy Picard. The film is directed by Arnaud Desplechin (A Christmas Tale, Kings & Queens) and stars Benicio Del Toro as a Plains Indian member of the Blackfeet nation who returns from the WWII battlefield and experiences various medical symptoms when he meets a French ethno-psychiatrist with a strong understanding of the modern Native American. Mathieu Amalric and Gina McKee are co-starring. The movie is adapted from Psychotherapy Of A Plains Indian by ethnologist and psychologist Georges Devereux. Pascal Caucheteux (Rust an Bone, A Prophet, Assault on Precint 13) is producing the project for Why Not Productions. Shore has previously collaborated with Desplechin on the 2000 drama Esther Kahn. ‘Broadchurch’ Soundtrack Released

Mercury Records has released a soundtrack for the British mini-series Broadchurch. The soundtrack EP features the original score from the series composed by Ólafur Arnald (Another Happy Day).
