Hans Zimmer has been tapped to compose the title theme for History’s upcoming mini-series Sons of Liberty. The show is created by Stephen David (The Men Who Built America, The World Wars) & David C. White and stars Ben Barnes, Henry Thomas, Michael Raymond James, Rafe Spall, Ryan Eggold, Marton Csokas, Emily Berrington and Dean Norris. The series follows a defiant and radical group of young men – John Adams, Sam Adams, Paul Revere, John Hancock and Joseph Warren – as they band together in secrecy to change the course of history and make America a nation. Kari Skogland (Boardwalk Empire) is directing the six-parter and David is also executive producing the project with Matthew Gross (Across the Universe, Body of Proof), Russ McCarroll and Elaine Frontain Bryant. Jed Kurzel is currently scoring the upcoming drama Macbeth. The film is directed by the composer’s brother, Justin Kurzel, and stars Michael Fassbender, Marion Cottilard, Sean Harris, Elizabeth Debicki, Paddy Considine and David Thewlis. The movie is based on the play by William Shakespeare and follows General Macbeth whose ambitious wife urges him to use wicked means in order to gain power of the throne over the sitting king. Jacob Koskoff & Todd Louiso (The Marc Pease Experiment) have written the screenplay. Remastered ‘Altered States’ Soundtrack Announced

La-La Land Records has announced a remastered re-issue of the soundtrack for the 1980 drama Altered States directed by Ken Russell and starring William Hurt, Blair Brown and Bob Balaban. The album features the film’s original music composed by John Corigliano (The Red Violin, Revolution) who received his first Academy Award nomination for his score. The soundtrack for the Warner Bros. Pictures production is limited to 2500 copies. Lakeshore Records will release a third soundtrack album for the comedy Walk of Shame. The album features more songs from the film by Black Mob Group, Lana Shea, Mia Koo Sebastian Robertson & Kill The Computer and Stuart Davis. The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 10, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips below. The label has previously released a soundtrack featuring songs from the movie, as well as an album featuring composer John Debney’s original score. Rhino Records will release the official soundtrack album for Clint Eastwood’s movie adaptation of Jersey Boys. The album features the songs from the film and the Broadway musical written by Bob Gaudio and featuring lyrics by Bob Crewe, including Sherry, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Walk Like a Man, Dawn, Rag Doll, Bye Bye Baby and Who Loves You. Also included are original recordings by Frankie Vallie & The Four Seasons. The soundtrack will be released on June 24, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Jersey Boys based on the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical stars John Lloyd Young, Erich Bergen, Michael Lomenda, Vincent Piazza and Christopher Walken. The movie follows four young men from the wrong side of the tracks in New Jersey who came together to form the iconic 1960s rock group The Four Seasons. Danny Elfman’s Music from the Films of Tim Burton to Return to Los Angeles

Following a number of sold out concerts around the world, Danny Elfman’s Music from the Films of Tim Burton will return to Los Angeles this fall. The concerts will take place at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE on Friday, October 31 and the Honda Center on Sunday, November 2. The program includes newly created suites from all sixteen film collaborations of Elfman and Tim Burton, including such titles as Batman, Alice in Wonderland, Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Big Fish. Elfman himself will perform his songs from The Nightmare Before Christmas. The music will be performed by the Hollywood Studio Symphony and choir conducted by John Mauceri and the concert will be accompanied with large screen film clips, and the artwork of Tim Burton. The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) has announced that Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman will be honored with the inaugural Shirley Walker Award at the 29th annual Film & Television Music Awards on Wednesday, June 25th, 2014 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, CA. The award honors those whose achievements have contributed to the diversity of film and television music. Shirley Walker (Final Destination, Memoirs of an Invisible Man) was the first prominent female film and TV composer. Johnny Klimek is reteaming with director Greg Mclean on the upcoming thriller 6 Miranda Drive. The film stars Kevin Bacon, Radha Mitchell, Jennifer Morrison, David Mazouz, Lucy Fry and Matt Walsh. The movie follows two families who return from a summer camping trip in the Grand Canyon with a supernatural presence in tow. Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, The Purge) is producing the project through his Blumhouse production company alongside Matt Kaplan for Chapter One and Bianca Martino for Emu Creek Pictures. Epic Records has announced a soundtrack album for the comedy sequel Think Like a Man Too. The album features the songs from and inspired by the film by Mary J. Blige, including the end credits song Vegas Night feat. The-Dream and the song See That Boy Again, on which she collaborated with Pharrell Williams. The soundtrack will be released on June 17, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Think Like a Man Too is directed by Tim Story and stars Kevin Hart, Regina Hall, Taraji P. Henson, La La Anthony, Michael Ealy, Jerry Ferrara, Gabrielle Union, Meagan Good, Terrence J, Jenifer Lewis, Romany Malco, Gary Owen, Adam Brody, Wendi McLendon-Covey and David Walton. The sequel follows the couples on a trip to wedding in Las Vegas, but plans for a romantic weekend go awry when their various misadventures get them into some compromising situations that threaten to derail the big event.
