Alexis & Sam are scoring the upcoming indie drama Lila & Eve. The film is directed by Charles Stone III (Drumline, Mr 300) and stars Viola Davis, Jennifer Lopez, Shea Whigham, Yolonda Ross, Aml Ameen and Andre Royo. The movie follows a grief stricken mother, who in the aftermath of her son’s murder in a drive-by shooting, attends a support group where she meets a woman who has lost her daughter. Together, they embark on a killing spree of their own. Pat Gilfillan has written the screenplay. Sara Risher (Raise Your Voice) is producing the project with Darrin Reed, Julius Tennon and Damian Ganczewski. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the horror thriller Annabelle directed by John Leonetti, produced by James Wan and starring Annabelle Wallis, Alfre Woodard, Tony Amendola, Eric Ladin and Brian Howe. The film’s original music is composed by Joseph Bishara (The Conjuring, Insidious, Dark Skies). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this week. Also opening wide is the thriller Gone Girl directed by David Fincher and starring Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, Kim Dickens, Patrick Fugit, Carrie Coon and David Clennon. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross who previously scored Fincher’s The Social Network and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo have composed the film’s original music. ‘Men, Women & Children’ Soundtrack Details

Warner Bros. Records has released a soundtrack album for Jason Reitman’s drama Men, Women & Children. The album features the film’s original music composed by Bibio, including the original song Preen Your Own Wing. Also included are songs by Cut Copy, Black Marble, Koreless, Four Tet, Bob Dylan, as well as Nick Hallett & Ray Sweeten’s I Feel Love, which was featured in the movie’s first trailer. Jeff Beal is composing the music for the third and final season of HBO’s The Newsroom. The show is created by Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing, The Social Network) and stars Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, Sam Waterston, John Gallagher, Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Dev Patel and Olivia Munn. The series follows the members of a cable news team on their quixotic mission to do the news well in the face of a fickle audience, corporate mandates and tangled personal relationships. Alex Wurman has previously scored the show’s first season, while Johnny Klimek composed the music for the second season. Thomas Newman provided the series’ main titles theme. Lakeshore Records will release two soundtrack albums for the Syfy original movies Sharknado and Sharknado 2: The Second One. The albums features the original music from the first part of the series composed by Ramin Kousha and the score for the second installment composed by Chris Ridenhour and Christopher Cano. Both soundtracks will be released digitally on October 14, 2014 and physically on November 11. Sharknado directed by Anthony C. Ferrante and starring Ian Ziering and Tara Reid premiered last year on Syfy. The sequel, which also stars Vivica A. Fox, Kari Wuhrer and Mark McGrath premiered this past summer. Country singer/songwriter Josh Kelley is making his film scoring debut on the upcoming comedy Home Sweet Hell. The film is directed by Anthony Burns (Skateland) and stars Katherine Heigl, Patrick Wilson, Jordana Brewster, Kevin McKidd, A.J. Buckley, Chi McBride and Jim Belushi. The movie, which was originally entitled North to Hell, follows a businessman whose life would be perfect if it weren’t for his domineering wife controlling his every move. Carlo Allen, Ted Elrick and Tom Lavagnino have written the screenplay.
