Kevin Kiner is composing the score for the new CW drama Jane the Virgin. The show is created by Jennie Snyder Urman (Emily Owens MD) based on the Venezuelan telenovela Juana la Virgen and stars Gina Rodriguez, Andrea Navedo, Justin Baldoni, Yael Grobglas, Brett Dier, Ivonne Coll and Jaime Camil. The series follows a hard-working young Latina woman whose family tradition and a vow to save her virginity until her marriage to a detective is shattered when a doctor accidentally artificially inseminates her during a checkup. Snyder Urman is also executive producing the CBS Television Studios and Warner Bros. Television production with Ben Silverman (The Office, Ugly Betty, The Tudors), Gary Pearl, Jorge Granier, as well as Brad Silberling (Casper, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events) who also directed the pilot episode. A soundtrack album will be released for the zombie sequel Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead. The album features the film’s original music composed by Christian Wibe. Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead is directed by Tommy Wirkola (Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters) and stars Martin Starr, Vegar Hoel, Ingrid Haas, Stig Frode Henriksen, Jocelyn DeBoer and Orjan Gamst. The movie takes place right after the events of the 2009 original Dead Snow film, which centered on a group of students surviving a Nazi zombie apocalypse. John Debney has been hired to score the upcoming NBC action drama Odyssey. ‘Vice’ to Feature Music by Hybrid

The British electronic music group Hybrid is composing the music for the upcoming sci-fi action thriller Vice. The film is directed by Brian A. Miller (The Prince, Officer Down, The Outsider) and stars Bruce Willis, Ambyr Childers and Thomas Jane. The movie is set in a city in which humans can enact their most perverse fantasies onto androids and follows one android who becomes self-aware and breaks out, only to become intent on shutting down the organization. Andre Fabrizio & Jeremy Passmore (Red Dawn, San Andreas, The Prince) have written the screenplay. Fil Eisler has been tapped to score the upcoming Fox drama Empire. The show is created by Lee Daniels (Precious, The Butler & Danny Strong (Recount, Game Change) and stars Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson, Gabourey Sidibe, Bryshere Gray, Jussie Smollett, Trai Byers, Malik Yoba, Grace Gealey and Kaitlin Dubleday. The series follows the head of a music empire whose three sons and ex-wife all battle for his throne. Daniels & Strong are also executive producing the Imagine Entertainment and 20th Century Fox Television production with Brian Grazer (Apollo 13, 24, A Beautiful Mind) and Francie Calfo. Dave Porter to Score AMC’s ‘Breaking Bad’ Spinoff ‘Better Call Saul’

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Dave Porter is set to score the upcoming AMC original series Better Call Saul. The show starring Bob Odenkirk is a spin-off of AMC’s Breaking Bad and focuses on the character of attorney Saul Goodman from the Emmy-winning hit drama. Porter has previously scored all episodes of Breaking Bad. The composer also co-wrote a song for a new music video promoting the show with Adam Dormblum. Premiering tonight is the new Fox comedy Mulaney produced by Lorne Michaels (30 Rock) and created by John Mulaney who also stars in the series alongside Seaton Smith, Nasim Pedrad, Martin Short, Elliott Gould and Zack Pearlman. The show’s original score is composed by Matter Music (The New Adventures of Old Christine, Better with You, Friend with Benefits). Mulaney follows a 29-year old rising stand-up comic who is trying to take his career to the next level. The comedy will air every Sunday night on Fox. Premiering on Tuesday, October 7, is the new CW superhero drama The Flash based on the DC Comic and starring Grant Gustin, Jesse L. The show’s original music is composed by Blake Neely (The Mentalist, Resurrection, The Pacific, Life as We Know It) who is also scoring the network’s Arrow, which is returning for a third season.
