The only movie opening nationwide this weekend is the horror sequel The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death directed by Tom Harper and starring Jeremy Irvine, Helen McCrory, Phoebe Cox and Oaklee Pendergast. The film’s original music is composed by Marco Beltrami (Scream, World War Z, 3:10 to Yuma) who previously scored the first part in the series, as well as Marcus Trumpp and Brandon Roberts. Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score earlier this week and a CD version is set to be released next week. Opening in New York and Los Angeles this week before expanding nationwide later this month is the crime drama A Most Violent Year written and directed by J.C. Chandor and starring Oscar Isaac, Jessica Chastain, Alessandro Nivola, David Oyelowo and Albert Brooks. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero’s Alex Ebert who previously scored the director’s All is Lost has composed the film’s original music.
