The movie follows a youngster who learns about sacrifice through the true story of Polish priest Maximilian Kolbe and the challenges he faced during the Nazi invasion of Poland in World War II. don-davisDon Davis is set to score the upcoming sci-fi thriller False Memory Syndrome. The film is directed by Fulvio Sestito and stars Peter Stormare, Jordan Hinson, Dee Wallace and Don Stark. The movie takes place during the shoot of a documentary to expose the lies of alien abductees and follows a provocative filmmaker and his crew who encounter a young woman with a dark secret, who leads them to uncover a disturbing truth. kurt-cobainJeff Danna is reteaming with director Brett Morgen on the upcoming documentary Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck. The film centers around Kurt Cobain, lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter of Nirvana, who remains an icon 20 years after his death. The movie follows Cobain’s life and his career with Nirvana through the lens of his home movies, recordings, artwork, photography, and journals. The documentary features interviews with his family and closest confidantes, including Courtney Love and Dave Grohl. woman-in-black-2The only movie opening nationwide this weekend is the horror sequel The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death directed by Tom Harper and starring Jeremy Irvine, Helen McCrory, Phoebe Cox and Oaklee Pendergast. The film’s original music is composed by  Marco Beltrami (Scream, World War Z3:10 to Yuma) who previously scored the first part in the series, as well as Marcus Trumpp and Brandon Roberts. Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score earlier this week and a CD version is set to be released next week. a-most-violent-yearOpening in New York and Los Angeles this week before expanding nationwide later this month is the crime drama A Most Violent Year written and directed by J.C. Chandor and starring Oscar Isaac, Jessica Chastain, Alessandro Nivola, David Oyelowo and Albert Brooks. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero’s Alex Ebert who previously scored the director’s All is Lost has composed the film’s original music. Community Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the score, as well as the original song America for Me. The film is written and directed by Chloé Zhao and stars John Reddy, Jashaun St. John, Irene Bedard, Taysha Fuller, Travis Lone Hill and Eléonore Hendricks. The movie takes place at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and follows a brother and his younger sister, who find themselves on separate paths to rediscovering the meaning of home. The show is created by John Ridley (12 Years a Slave, Jimi: All Is By My Side) and stars Felicity Huffman, Timothy Hutton, W. Earl Brown, Richard Cabral, Caitlin Gerard, Benito Martinez, Penelope Ann Miller, Elvis Nolasco and Johnny Ortiz. The series centers around the brutal attack on a young couple in Modesto, California, their parents and the four suspects who are about to be arrested. The songs entitled Maybe You’re Not the Worst Thing Ever and She’ll Be Mine are composed by Academy Award winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Enchanted) featuring lyrics by Glenn Slater. The label has previously released the title song Galavant from the series. spotlessNeil Davidge is composing the music for the upcoming crime drama series Spotless. The show is created by Ed McCardie (Shameless) & Corinne Marrinan (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) and stars Miranda Raison, Brendan Coyle, Marc-André Grondin and Denis Ménochet. The series follows a troubled man whose tidy life is turned upside down when his outlaw brother crash lands into his world, and gets both of them fatally involved in organized crime. Pascal Chaumeil (Heartbreaker, A Long Way Down) directed the first two episodes. McCardie is also executive producing the Tandem Communications and Rosetta Media production with Suzanne Berger (Hell of Wheels), Jonas Bauer (The Company) and Rola Bauer

‘Timbuktu’ Soundtrack Released

timbuktuUniversal Music has released a soundtrack album for the drama Timbuktu. The album features the film’s original music composed by Amine Bouhafa. The soundtrack is now available overseas and is available as an import on Amazon. Also visit Spotify to stream the album. No word yet on a domestic release date of the physical version. Timbuktu is directed by Abderrahmane Sissako and stars Ibrahim Ahmed. The movie tells the story of the brief occupation of Timbuktu by militant Islamic rebels and has received strong buzz here on the ground. The drama premiered in competition at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and will be released domestically in select theaters on January 28, 2015 by Cohen Media Group. Read the rest of this entry »

The show is created by Jonathan Nolan (The Dark Knight, Memento) & Lisa Joy based on Michael Crichton’s 1973 film of the same title and stars Anthony Hopkins, James Marsden, Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, Thandie Newton, Miranda Otto, Rodrigo Santoro, Ed Harris, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Angela Sarafyan and Simon Quarterman. The show is set at an amusement park and is described as a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin. Nolan & Joy are also executive producing the Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television production with J. J. Abrams & Bryan Burk (Lost, Star Trek) and Jerry Weintraub (Ocean’s Eleven, The Karate Kid).
