Singer/songwriter Josh Ritter has composed the music for the upcoming indie comedy drama The Hollars. The film marks the second feature directorial effort of actor John Krasinki (The Office, Brief Interviews with Hideous Men) and stars himself, alongside Anna Kendrick, Margo Martindale, Richard Jenkins, Sharlto Copley, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Charlie Day. The movie follows a New York City artist who returns to his Middle America hometown on the eve of his mother’s brain surgery and. joined by his pregnant girlfriend, is forced to navigate the crazy world he left behind. Jim Strouse (Grace Is Gone, People Places Things) has written the screenplay. Silva Screen Records will release a soundtrack album for the BBC original series Dickensian. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed by Debbie Wiseman (Wilde, Wolf Hall, Vampire Killers). The soundtrack will be released overseas on February 11, 2016 and is now available for pre-oder as an import on Amazon. Dickensian stars Stephen Rea, Pauline Collins OBE, Caroline Quentin, Peter Firth, Tuppence Middleton, Sophie Rundle, Omid Djalili, Anton Lesser, Ned Dennehy, Adrian Rawlins and Tom Weston-Jones. Jim Dooley is composing the score for the upcoming comedy Fifty Shades of Black. The movie is directed by Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) and stars Marlon Wayans, Kalli Hawk, Affion Crockett, Fred Willard, Mike Epps, Andrew Bachelor, Jane Seymour and Florence Henderson. The film is a parody of this year’s hit drama Fifty Shades of Grey and E.L. James’ novel of the same title. Wayans has also written the screenplay with Rick Alvarez (White Chicks, Littleman, Dance Flick). Both are also producing the IM Global and Baby Way production. The album features the film’s original music composed, orchestrated and conducted by Diego Navarro, as well as a concert suite that was recorded at this year’s Tenerife International Film Music Festival. Also included is the song I’ll Reach You performed by Auryn. The soundtrack will be released on December 21, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Capture the Flag is directed by Enrique Gato and follows a young surfer who rallies his friends to stop a billionaire from rewriting history as a way to horde Helium 3, the clean energy of the future. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters and expected to beat box office records is Star Wars: The Force Awakens directed by J.J. Abrams and starring John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Domhnall Gleeson, Harrison Ford & Carrie Fisher. The film’s original music is composed by John Williams. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music. Check out our previous article for the full album details. Also opening wide is the comedy Sisters directed by Jason Moore and starring Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Ike Barinholtz, John Leguizamo, Dianne Wiest, John Cena and James Brolin. Christophe Beck (Frozen, Ant-Man, Edge of Tomorrow, The Hangover) has composed the film’s original score. No soundtrack album has been announced. Sisters follows two disconnected sisters who are summoned home and throw one final party in order to recapture their glory days. The comedy is being released by Universal Pictures. Nicholas Britell has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming historical drama The Free State of Jones. The film is written and directed by Gary Ross (The Hunger Games, Pleasantville, Seabiscuit) and stars Matthew McConaughey, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Keri Russell and Mahershala Ali. The movie is set during the Civil War and tells the story of a poor Southern farmer who leads a group of anti-slavery Confederate deserters in Jones County and turns them against the Confederacy. Burt Bacharach to Score John Asher’s ‘Po’

Burt Bacharach has signed on to score the upcoming drama Po. The film is directed by John Asher (Dirty Love) and stars Christopher Gorham, Julian Feder and Kaitlin Doubleday. The movie tells the story of a recently widowed father struggling to raise his 10-year-old son who has autism. Colin Goldman has written the screenplay based on a story by himself and Steve C. Roberts. Asher is also producing the project with Rod Hamilton. Bacharach, whose own daughter Nikki struggled with Asperger’s Syndrome (high-functioning autism), agreed to let Asher use his song Close to You in the film and later, after watching the film, offered to score the film.
