grease-liveAiring tonight is the Fox television event Grease: LIVE! starring Julianne Hough, Aaron Tveit, Vanessa Hudgens, Carlos PenaVega, Keke Palmer, Andrew Call, David Del Rio, Kether Donohue, Jordan Fisher and Boyz II Men. Republic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the special by Jim Jacobs & Warren Casey, as well as two original tracks written by Tom Kitt & Brian Yorkey and performed by Carly Rae Jepsen and DNCE and an original track written and performed by DNCE. american-crime-storyPremiering on Tuesday, February 2, is the FX original series American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson written by Scott Alexander & Larry Karaszewski, executive produced by Ryan Murphy and starring Cuba Gooding Jr., John Travolta, David Schwimmer, Courtney B. Vance, Robert Kardashian, Sarah Paulson and Bruce Greenwood. The show’s original music is composed by Mac Quayle (Mr. Robot, American Horror Story, Scream Queens). nick-urataNick Urata is reteaming with director Stephen Gyllenhaal on the upcoming drama So B. It. The film starring Alfre Woodard, Talitha Bateman, John Heard, Cloris Leachman, Jacinda Barrett, Dash Mihok and Jessica Collins is based on the young adult novel of the same title by Sarah Weeks and follows a 12-year-old girl who decides to take a solo cross-country trip and leave the safety of her home life with her mentally challenged mother and agoraphobic neighbor. Orien Richman is producing the Outside The Box and Branded Pictures Entertainment production with J. Todd Harris (The Kids Are All Right, Bottle Shock).

‘Southbound’ Soundtrack Details

southboundHeadquarters Music will release a soundtrack album for the horror anthology Southbound. The album features the film’s original music written by the composer duo of The Gifted. The soundtrack will be released on February 9, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Southbound is directed by Radio Silence, Roxanne Benjamin, David Bruckner & Patrick Horvath and stars Chad Villella, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Fabianne Therese, Nathalie Love, Hannah Marks, Dana Gould, Mather Zickel, David Yow, Matt Peters and Larry Fessenden. The movie features five stories set on desolate stretches of a desert highway, including tales about two men on the run from their past, a band on its way to a gig, a man struggling to get home, a brother in search of his long-lost sister and a family on vacation. Four new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

kung-fu-panda-3Expected to top the weekend box office is the animated feature Kung Fu Panda 3 directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson & Alessandro Carloni and featuring the voices of Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, Bryan Cranston, Kate Hudson, David Cross and J.K. Simmons. The film’s original music is composed by Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, Inception, The Dark Knight) who previously co-scored the first two parts in the series with John Powell. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as songs by The Vamps and Patrick Brasca feat. Jay Chou. the-finest-hoursAlso opening wide is the disaster drama The Finest Hours directed by Craig Gillespie and starring Chris Pine, Casey Affleck, Ben Foster, Holliday Grainger, John Ortiz and Eric Bana. Carter Burwell (Twilight, Fargo, Carol, True Grit) has composed the film’s original music. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the end titles song Haul Away Joe performed by Kodaline. miss-peregrines-home-for-peculiar-childrenMatthew Margeson and Mike Higham are currently scoring the upcoming fantasy adventure Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. The score will be recorded in London within the next few weeks. The movie stars Eva Green, Asa Butterfield, Ella Purnell, Allison Janney, Terence Stamp, Rupert Everett, Judi Dench and Samuel L. Jackson. The film is based on the Ransom Riggs novel and follows a teenager who finds himself transported to an island where he must help protect a group of orphans with special powers from creatures out to destroy them. ‘Galavant’ Season 2 Soundtrack Album Released

galavant-2Hollywood Records has released a new soundtrack album for the ABC musical comedy Galavant. The album features the original songs from the show’s second season written by Academy Award winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Enchanted, Tangled) featuring lyrics by Glenn Slater and performed by the series’ cast, including guest stars Kylie Minogue, Weird Al Yankovic, Eddie Marsan, Reece Shearsmith & more. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. The label has previously released a soundtrack featuring the songs from the first season. Galavant is created by Dan Fogelman and stars Joshua Sasse, Mallory Jansen, Karen David, Timothy Omundson, Vinnie Jones and Luke Youngblood. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Carter Burwell (Fargo, Carol, Twilight, No Country for Old Men, True Grit, The Rookie). Also included is the original end titles song Haul Away Joe performed by Kodaline. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, January 29 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also check out audio clips. The Finest Hours is directed by Craig Gillespie and stars Chris Pine, Casey Affleck, Ben Foster, Holliday Grainger, John Ortiz and Eric Bana. lorne-balfeLorne Balfe has signed on to score the upcoming ITV original series Marcella. The show is created by Hans Rosenfeldt (The Bridge) & Nicola Larder and stars Anna Friel, Laura Carmichael, Nicholas Pinnock, Ian Puleston-Davies, Nina Sosanya, Ray Panthaki, Jamie Bamber, Sinead Cusack, Patrick Baladi and Harry Lloyd. The drama is set in contemporary London and follows a detective who returns to the Metropolitan Police’s Murder Squad after a 10-year long career break to start a family. Rosenfeldt and Larder are also executive producing the project with Tony Wood. academy-awardsAcademy Awards producers David Hill and Reginald Hudlin announced today the first slate of presenters and performers for the 88th Oscars telecast. The list includes Lady Gaga, Sam Smith and The Weeknd who are expected to perform their Oscar-nominated songs at the ceremony. Lady Gaga is nominated alongside Diane Warren for the song Til it Happens to You from the documentary The Hunting Ground, while Smith received a nomination the song Writing’s On the Wall from the James Bond film Spectre, which he co-wrote with Jimmy Napes.
