roadiesPremiering tonight is the new Showtime original series Roadies created by Cameron Crowe and starring Carla Gugino, Luke Wilson, Imogen Poots, Rafe Spall, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Peter Cambor, Colson Baker, Ron White, Luis Guzman, Jacqueline Byers and Rainn Wilson. Republic Records and Stardogs Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the drama by Bob Dylan, The Ramones, The Replacements, The Ting Tings & Jeff Buckley on August 26. Check back on this page for the full details. Roadies follows a road crew that helps with a rock band’s major multi-city tour. dead-of-summerPremiering on Tuesday, June 28 is the new Freeform original series Dead of Summer created by Adam Horowitz, Edward Kitsis & Ian Goldberg and starring Elizabeth Mitchell, Elizabeth Lail, Mark Indelicato, Alberto Frezza, Eli Goree, Ronen Rubinstein, Amber Coney and Paulina Singer. Joseph Trapanese (Oblivion, The Raid, Insurgent, Allegiant, Earth to Echo) is composing the show’s original music. ‘Me Before You’ Score Album Released

me-before-youWaterTower Music has released a score album for the romantic drama Me Before You. The album features the film’s original music composed by Craig Armstrong (Moulin Rouge!, The Great Gatsby, The Incredible Hulk, World Trade Center, Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo & Juliet). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. As previously reported, Interscope Records has released a separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the movie. Me Before You  is directed by Thea Sherrock and stars Emilia Clarke, Sam Claflin, Charles Dance, Janet McTeer, Jenna Coleman, Matthew Lewis, Stephen Peacocke, Vanessa Kirby and Brendan Coyle. The movie is based on the best-selling novel by Jojo Moyes and follows a woman in a small town who forms an unlikely bond with a recently paralyzed man she’s taking care of.  Read the rest of this entry »

Methodic Doubt’s Kris Dirksen Scoring Cinemax’s ‘Quarry’

quarryKris Dirksen is composing the score for the upcoming Cinemax original series Quarry. The show is created by Graham Gordy (The Love Guru) & Michael D. Fuller based on the novels of Max Allan Collins and stars Logan Marshall-Green, Jodi Balfour, Peter Mullan, Nikki Amuka-Bird and Damon Herriman. The series follows a Marine who returns home to Memphis from Vietnam in 1972 and finds himself shunned by those he loves and demonized by the public and is drawn into a network of killing and corruption. Gordy and Fuller are also executive producing the project with Steve Golin (The Revenant, Spotlight, Mr. Robot) and Greg Yaitanes (House) who directed all episodes of the first season. petes-dragonWalt Disney Records will release the official soundtrack album for the fantasy adventure Pete’s Dragon. The album features the film’s original music composed by Daniel Hart (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, Comet, Tumbleweed), as well as the original song Nobody Knows (How to Say Goodbye) written by Andrew Tinker & Toby Halbrooks and performed by The Lumineers. Four new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

independence-day-resurgenceOpening in most theaters is the sci-fi action adventure Independence Day: Resurgence directed by Roland Emmerich and starring Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe and Sela Ward. The film’s original music is composed by Thomas Wander & Harald Kloser (2012, White House Down, The Day After Tomorrow, 10’000 BC). Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the original song I’m Crying by Lucinda Williams. Heitor Pereira to Return for ‘Despicable Me 3’

despicable-meHeitor Pereira will be returning to provide scoring duties on the upcoming animated sequel Despicable Me 3. The film is directed by Kyle Balda (Minion) & Pierre Coffin who helmed the first two installments in the series with Chris Renaud. Eric Guillon is co-directing the film, which is written by Cinco Paul & Ken Daurio (The Secret Life of Pets, The Lorax, Horton Hears a Who). Steve Carell returns as the voice of Gru, as well as the new character of Gru’s long lost identical twin Drew. Trey Parker has also joined the voice cast. The soundtrack will be released on August 19, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Childhood of a Leader marks the directorial debut of Brady Corbet and stars Bérénice Bejo, Robert Pattinson, Liam Cunningham, Stacy Martin, Yolande Moreau and Tom Sweet. The movie is set in 1918 and tells the story of a young American living in France whose father is working for the US government on the creation of the Treaty of Versailles. The show is written by Bill Gallagher (The Paradise, Blood) and stars Max Beesley, Jason Flemyng, Dean Lennox-Kelly, Naomi Battrick, Sophie Rundle, Shaun Dooley, Stuart Martin, Steven Waddington, Matt Stokoe, Burn Gorman and Niamh Walsh. The 8-part drama is set in 1619 and follows the British settlers as they establish a community in the New World. Jeff Russo to Score Syfy’s ‘Channel Zero’

jeff-russoJeff Russo is set to score the upcoming Syfy original series Channel Zero. The show is created by Nick Antosca (The Forest) based on Kris Straub’s online short story and will star Paul Schneider, Fiona Shaw, Shaun Benson, Natalie Brown and Luisa D’Oliveira. The anthology series centers on one man’s obsessive recollection of a mysterious children’s television program from the 1980s – and his ever-growing suspicions about the role it might have played in a series of nightmarish and deadly events from his childhood. Craig William Macneill (The Boy) will direct all episodes of the first season. John Williams Wins Saturn Award for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

saturn-awardsJohn Williams was honored with the Saturn Award last night at the 42nd annual Saturn Awards in Burbank, presented by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films. The composer won the prize in the Best Music category for his score for J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The other nominated composers were Ennio Morricone (The Hateful Eight), Tom Holkenborg (Mad Max: Fury Road), Johann Johansson (Sicario), M.M. Keeravani (Baahubali: The Beginning) and Fernando Velazquez (Crimson Peak). Williams’ score for the seventh Star Wars episode is available on Walt Disney Records. The composer has previously received Academy Award and BAFTA nominations for his work on the film.
