The only movie opening nationwide this weekend is Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Homecoming directed by Jon Watts and starring Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Jon Favreau, Donald Glover, Tyne Daly, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr. The film’s original music is composed by Michael Giacchino (Up, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Jurassic World, Doctor Strange). Opening in limited release is the indie drama A Ghost Story written and directed by David Lowery and starring Casey Affleck, Rooney Mara, Will Oldham, Sonia Acevedo, Rob Zabrecky and Liz Franke. Daniel Hart (Pete’s Dragon, Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, Tumbledown,Film Music Magazine Comet, The Exorcist) has composed the film’s original music. John Williams is set to score Steven Spielberg’s upcoming drama The Papers. The film stars Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, Sarah Paulson, Bob Odenkirk, Bradley Whitford, Alison Brie, Matthew Rhys, Carrie Coon, Jesse Plemons, David Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Tracy Letts, Michael Stuhlbarg and Zach Woods. The movie revolves around the 1971 scandal after the decision of The Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee and publisher Katharine Graham to publish The Pentagon Papers. Liz Hannah wrote the screenplay. Spielberg is also producing the Amblin Entertainment production with Amy Pascal (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Ghostbusters) and Kristie Macosko Krieger (Bridge of Spies). 
The track list of the soundtrack album for the fantasy adventure The Dark Tower has been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) (Mad Max: Fury Road, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Divergent, 300: Rise of an Empire, Black Mass). The line-up for two film music-related panels at Comic-Con 2017 has been announced. On Friday, July 21, a number of film/Tv composers will participate in the 9th annual Behind the Music panel presented by CW3PR and Impact24 PR. Jeff Russo (Legion, Fargo), Sean Callery (Jessica Jones, 24), Kris Bowers (Dear White People), Mac Quayle (Mr. Robot, American Horror Story), Siddhartha Khosla (This Is Us, Runaways) and Blake Neely (The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, Riverdale) will be participating in a discussion moderated by actors Rachel Keller (Legion, Fargo) & Jeremie Harris (Legion,The Get Down). The composers will give insight on how they contribute to many of the most popular fantasy/fiction titles in the TV and film worlds.
John Paesano is composing the music for the new CBS drama Salvation. The show is developed by Liz Kruger & Craig Shapiro (Necessary Roughness) based on a story by Matt Wheeler and stars Santiago Cabrera, Jennifer Finnigan, Charlie Rowe, Jacqueline Byers, Rachel Drance, Shazi Raja and Ian Anthony Dale. The series centers on an MIT grad student and a tech superstar, who bring a Pentagon official a staggering discovery – that an asteroid is just six months away from colliding with Earth.
