‘The Highway Rat’ Soundtrack Details

Magic Light Pictures will release a soundtrack album for the BBC animated holiday special The Highway Rat. The album features the original music from the short composed by René Aubry (The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo’s Child, Under the Bombs).  The soundtrack will be released digitally on Monday, December 18 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. The Highway Rat is directed by Jeroen Jaspaert and stars David Tennant as the title character, Rob Brydon as the narrator, Nina Sosanya as the Duck, Tom Hollander as the Squirrel and Frances de le Tour as the Rabbit. ‘Viking’ Soundtrack Released

MovieScore Media has released a soundtrack album for the Russian historical epic Viking. The album features the film’s original music composed by Dean Valentine (Tiger Raid), as well as the composer’s music written for the movie’s trailers. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Viking is directed by Andrei Kravchuk and stars Danila Kozlovsky and Svetlana Khodchenkova. The movie is set in late 10th Century and revolves around medieval prince Vladimir the Great, Prince of Novgorod, as he is forced into exile across the frozen sea after the death of his father. Steve London is reuniting with director Robert Budreau on the upcoming thriller Stockholm. The film is written and directed by Budreau and stars Ethan Hawke, Noomi Rapace, Mark Strong and Christopher Heyerdahl. The movie tells the true story of a 1973 bank heist and hostage crisis in Stockholm, during which the hostages bonded with their captors and turned against the authorities. The director is also producing the project with Nicholas Tabarrok (Defendor, The Art of the Steal) and Jonathan Bronfman (The Void, Edge of Winter). Read the rest of this entry »

Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi starring Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie and Andy Serkis. The film’s original music is composed by John Williams (Raiders of the Lost ArkJurassic ParkJaws, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s StoneE.T.). Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Check out our previous news article for the full album details.

Also opening wide is the animated feature Ferdinand directed by Carlos Saldanha and featuring the voices of John Cena, Kate McKinnon, Gina Rodriguez, Anthony Anderson, Daveed Diggs, Gabriel Iglesias, Bobby Cannavale and David Tennant. John Powell (How to Train Your DragonThe Bourne IdentityShrek) has composed the film’s original score. A soundtrack featuring the composer’s score has been released by Fox Music and La-La Land Records (click here for the full details). ‘The Vault’ Soundtrack Released

MovieScore Media has released a soundtrack album for the horror thriller The Vault. The album features the film’s original music composed by Shaun Drew (DC Super Hero Girls, Secret Origin: The Story of DC Comics). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio clips. The Vault is co-written and directed by Dan Bush and stars James Franco, Taryn Manning, Francesca Eastwood, Q’Orianka Kilcher, Clifton Collins and Scott Haze. The movie follows two estranged sisters who are forced to rob a bank in order to save their brother who burned down a warehouse owned by a notorious gangster. Danny Mulhern has recently recorded his score for the upcoming drama What They Had. The film is written and directed by Elizabeth Chomko and stars Hilary Swank, Michael Shannon, Blythe Danner, Robert Forster, Taissa Farmiga and Josh Lucas. The movie follows a woman who returns home to Chicago at her brother’s urging to deal with her mother’s Alzheimer’s and her father’s reluctance to let go of their life together. Keith Kjarval (A Single Shot, Rudderless), Bill Holderman (A Walk in the Woods, The Company You Keep), Albert Berger (Little Miss Sunshine, Cold Mountain), Ron Yerxa (Nebraska, Election, Little Children), Alex Saks & Andrew Duncan (The Florida Project) and Tyler Jackson are producing the project. Filmtrax has released a soundtrack album for the thriller Crooked House. The album features the film’s original music composed by Hugo de Chaire (Capsule). Crooked House is directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner and stars Glenn Close, Terence Stamp, Max Irons, Stefanie Martini, Gillian Anderson and Christina Hendricks. Sony Masterworks will release a soundtrack album for the BBC mini-series Gunpowder. The album features the original music from the historical thriller composed by Academy Award nominee Hauschka (aka Volker Bertelmann) (Lion, In Dubious Battle, The Current War, The Boy). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, December 15. The download link will be added to this article within the next day. Gunpowder is created by Ronan Bennett & Daniel West and stars Kit Harington, Liv Tyler, Peter Mullan, Edward Holcroft, Shaun Dooley, Robert Emms, Derek Riddell and Mark Gatiss. The 3-parter follows British activist Guy Fawkes and a group of provincial English Catholics as they plan to blow up the House of Lords and kill King James I in the early 17th century. The film is directed by Michael Sucsy (The Vow, Grey Gardens) and stars Angourie Rice, Maria Bello, Debby Ryan, Jacob Batalon, Justice Smith, Owen Teague, Lucas Jade Zumann and Colin Ford. The movie is based on David Levithan’s bestselling YA novel and revolves around a shy teenage girl who falls in love with an entity named A, who inhabits a new body of another teenage boy each day.
