Leo Birenberg and Zach Robinson are scoring the upcoming YouTube Red original series Cobra Kai. The show is developed by Josh Heald (Hot Tub Time Machine), Jon Hurwitz & Hayden Schlossberg (Harold & Kumar series, American Reunion) and stars Ralph Macchio and William Zabka who will reprise their roles from the 1984 original film. The series is set 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament and follows Johnny Lawrence as he seeks redemption by reopening the infamous Cobra Kai karate dojo, reigniting his rivalry with a now successful Daniel LaRusso. The only movie opening nationwide this week is the horror thriller Winchester directed by Peter & Michael Spierig and starring Helen Mirren, Jason Clarke, Sarah Snook, Angus Sampson and Finn Scicluna-O’Prey. Peter Spierig (Predestination) has also composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring the score is in the works and will be announced soon. The movie tells the story of the woman who began building the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California upon advisement from a medium. The film is being released by CBS Films/Lionsgate. Opening in limited release following an awards-qualifying run last year is the drama A Fantastic Woman directed by Sebastián Lelio and starring Daniela Vega and Hector Lavoe. The film’s original music is composed by Matthew Herbert (Life in a Day, Disobedience). Milan Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs by Vega and Hector Lavoe. The film is written and directed by Megan Griffiths (Eden, Lucky Them) and stars Melanie Lynskey, Sophia Mitri Schloss, John Gallagher Jr., Danielle Brooks, Tony Hale, Keith Williams and Tee Dennard. The movie tells the story of a 13-year-old girl who lives at home with her mother while her father serves repeated tours in the military. Dubois Music will release a soundtrack album for the Netflix and BBC series Requiem. The album features the show’s original music composed by Emmy Award nominee Dominik Scherrer (The Missing, Ripper Street, Primeval) with Natasha Khan (aka Bat For Lashes). The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 9, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also already download two tracks. Requiem is created by Cris Mrksa (The Slap) and stars Lydia Wilson, Joel Fry, Tara Fitzgerald, James Frecheville, Claire Rushbrook, Richard Harrington, Joanna Scanlan, Brendan Coyle, Sian Reese Williams, Dyfan Dwyfor and Ifan Huw Thomas. ‘This Is Us’ Score Album to Be Released

Universal Music will release the first score album for the NBC hit drama This Is Us. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Siddhartha Khosla (Runaways, The Royals, The Neighbors). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, February 2 and will be available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. The label has previously released a soundtrack featuring songs from the series and two tracks from the composer’s score. This Is Us is created by Dan Fogelman and stars Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz, Justin Hartley, Susan Kelechi Watson and Chris Sullivan. The film starring Garrett Wareing, Courtney Eaton, Tao Okamoto, Maurice Compte, Abbie Cornish, Martin Sensmeier, Sarah McDaniel, Chris Santos, Leonardo Nam and Regan ‘Busdriver’ Farquhar centers on a young man with a violent past who enters a mysterious clinic where the patients wildly transform their bodies and minds using genetic engineering. Ted Kupper wrote the screenplay.
