Legacy Recordings, Columbia Records, Third Man Records nd Lomax Records have announced a number of soundtracks for the PBS docu-series American Epic. The releases include the 5-CD deluxe box set American Epic: The Collection, which features 100 songs from the show by artists including Mississippi John Hurt, The Carter Family, Charley Patton, Jimmie Rodgers, Lydia Mendoza & more, and is set to be released on May 12 (click here to pre-order), as well as American Epic: The Soundtrack, which features 15 songs and will be released digitally and physically on the same day (visit Amazon to pre-order). On June 9, the labels will release American Epic: The Sessions, produced by Jack White & T Bone Burnett, which features new recordings by modern artists including Alabama Shakes, Ashley Monroe, The Avett Brothers, Beck, Elton John, Los Lobos, Nas, Raphael Saadiq, Steve Martin & Edie Brickell and more (click here to pre-order). Tyler Bates to Score James Cox’s ‘Billionaire Boys Club’

Tyler Bates has signed on to score the upcoming crime drama Billionaire Boys Club. The film is directed by James Cox (Wonderland, Highway) and stars Ansel Elgort, Taron Egerton, Kevin Spacey, Emma Roberts, Suki Waterhouse, Bokeem Woodbine, Billie Lourd, Jeremy Irvine and Judd Nelson. The movie is based on the true story of a group of wealthy young men in Los Angeles during the early 1980s who established a get-rich quick scam that turned deadly. Cox also co-wrote the screenplay with Captain Mauzner (Factory Girl). KT Tunstall’s ‘Fit In’ from ‘3 Generations’ to Be Released

Lakeshore Records will release the original song Fit In from the indie comedy drama 3 Generations. The song is written and performed by Grammy Award-nominated singer/songwriter KT Tunstall. The track will be released as a digital single on May 5, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on iTunes. 3 Generations is co-written and directed by Gaby Dellal and stars Elle Fanning, Naomi Watts, Susan Sarandon, Sam Trammell, Linda Emond and Tate Donovan. The movie centers on a New York teenager seeking to transition from female to male and the relationship with her single mother who is coming to terms with having to raise her only daughter as a son. Jaeil Jung has recently composed the music for the upcoming monster movie Okja. The film is directed by Bong Joon Ho (Snowpiercer, The Host, Mother) and stars Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Seohyun An, Devon Bostick, Lily Collins, Byun Heebong, Shirley Henderson, Daniel Henshall, Yoon Je Moon, Choi Wooshik and Steven Yeun. The movie follows a young girl who must risk everything to prevent a powerful, multi-national company from kidnapping her best friend – a massive animal named ‘Okja’. Premiering tonight is the Starz original series American Gods created by Bryan Fuller & Michael Green based on Neil Gaiman’s novel and starring Ricky Whittle, Ian McShane, Emily Browning, Pablo Schreiber, Yetide Badaki, Bruce Langley, Crispin Glover and Orlando Jones. The show’s original music is composed by Brian Reitzell (Hannibal, Friday Night Lights, 30 Days of Night). Also premiering tonight is the National Geographic documentary LA 92 directed by Dan Lindsay and TJ Martin about the 1992 Los Angeles riots. Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans (Enemy, The Gift, Martha Marcy May Marlene, The Discovery, The OA, The One I Love) have composed the film’s original music. Jimmy LaValle (aka The Album Leaf) has been hired to score the upcoming CW drama Valor. The show is created by writer/musician Kyle Jarrow and stars Christina Ochoa, Matt Barr, Charlie Barnett, W. Tré Davis, Nigel Thatch, Corbin Reid and Melissa Roxburgh. The series follows two chopper pilots who, after a botched mission in Somalia leaves a pair of American servicemen in enemy hands, train for a rescue operation, and only they share a very large secret from the initial operation. Jarrow is also executive producing the CBS Television production with Bill Haber (Rizzoli & Isles). Michael Robin (Nip/Tuck, The Closer, Longmire) is directing the pilot episode. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the thriller The Circle written and directed by James Ponsoldt and starring Emma Watson, Tom Hanks, John Boyega, Patton Oswalt, Bill Paxton, Karen Gillan and Ellar Coltrane. The film’s original music is composed by Danny Elfman (Spider-Man, Batman, Alice in Wonderland). Sony Masterworks has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as a cover version of Shaker’s Simple Gifts recorded for the movie by Jónsi. Also opening wide is the comedy How to Be a Latin Lover directed by Ken Marino and starring Eugenio Derbez, Salma Hayek, Rob Lowe, Kristen Bell, Raquel Welch, Michael Cera, Rob Riggle, Rob Corddry, Michaela Watkins and Rob Huebel. Craig Wedren (Role Models, School of Rock, Wet Hot American Summer) has composed the film’s original score. Nacional Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie, including the songs from the movie by Jungle Fire, The Vanguards, Gaby Moreno, Iris Cepeda, Solomon Burke & more. Jeff Russo is composing the original score for the upcoming FX original series Snowfall. The show is created by John Singleton (Boyz n the Hood, Shaft, Four Brothers) & Eric Amadio and Dave Andron (Justified) and stars Damson Idris, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Carter Hudson and Emily Rios. The drama is set against the infancy of the crack cocaine epidemic in the early 80s in Los Angeles and its ultimate radical impact on the culture as we know it. Singleton, Andron and Amadio are also executive producing the project with Thomas Schlamme (The West Wing, Manhattan), Michael London (Sideways, The Illusionist, The Visitor) and Trevor Engelson (Remember Me).
