National Geographic, with Fox 21 Studios and Imagine Television Studios, announced today that Academy Award nominee Terence Blanchard (BlacKkKlansman, Inside Man, Malcolm X) is set to score the upcoming National Geographic original series Genius: Aretha. Raphael Saadiq (Insecure, Step) has been tapped to serve as an executive music producer and will be responsible for producing, arranging and recording all of the original song elements within the series featuring live performances. The biographical drama stars Cynthia Erivo in the title role of Aretha Franklin, as well as Courtney B. Verve Records will release the first soundtrack album for the Netflix original series Ozark. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s first two seasons composed by Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans (Boy Erased, The Gift, Enemy, The Outsider, Martha Marcy May Marlene, Fear the Walking Dead). The soundtrack is set to be released on vinyl on March 13, 2020 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A digital release is also expected, but has not been confirmed yet. Ozark is created by Bill Dubuque & Mark Williams and stars Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, Sofia Hublitz, Jordana Spiro and Julia Garner. La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1990 superhero movie Darkman directed by Sam Raimi and starring Liam Neeson, Frances McDormand, Colin Friels and Larry Drake. The 2-CD set features the original music from the Universal Pictures production composed by Danny Elfman (Batman, Spider-Man, Alice in Wonderland, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Avengers: Age of Ultron), including the 1990 original soundtrack album on the first disc, and the expanded original score (featuring over 30 minutes of previously unreleased music) on the second disc.
