Premiering in the U.S. tomorrow, March 9, is the British thriller Temple developed by Mark O’Rowe based on the Norwegian series Valkyrien and starring Mark Strong, Carice van Houten and Daniel Mays. The show’s original music is composed by Matthew Herbert (Disobedience, A Fantastic Woman, The Cave, Life in a Day, Gloria Bell). SATV Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music from the first season. Check out our previous news article to learn more about the series, which premiered in the UK on Sky last year and is making its U.S. debut on Charter Communication’s Spectrum.

Also premiering tomorrow is the docu-series Cosmos: Possible Worlds presented by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson and written, directed and executive produced by Ann Druyan & Brannon Braga. Alan Silvestri (Avengers: Endgame, Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, Cast Away, The Polar Express, Captain America: The First Avenger) who previously scored 2014’s Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey has composed the show’s original music. ‘The Kangaroo Chronicles’ (‘Die Känguru-Chroniken’) Soundtrack Released

Staatsakt Rec. GmbH has released a soundtrack album for the German comedy The Kangaroo Chronicles (Die Känguru-Chroniken). The album features the film’s original music composed by Niki Reiser (Beyond Silence, Nowhere in Africa, Labyrinth of Lies, The White Massai, Summer Storm). Also included are the songs from the movie by Arbeitsgruppe Zukunft, David Hasselhoff, Meute’s version of Deadmau5’s Gula & more. Grace VanderWaal’s Original Song ‘Today and Tomorrow’ from Disney+’s ‘Stargirl’ Released

Columbia Records has released the original song Today and Tomorrow from the Disney+ original movie Stargirl. The track is  written and performed by Grace VanderWaal (who made her acting debut on the movie) and is now available to download as a digital single on Amazon. The song will also be featured on the film’s official soundtrack album (which also includes the movie’s original score by Rob Simonsen), which will be released on March 13 by Walt Disney Records. ‘Troop Zero’ Soundtrack Released

Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album for the comedy drama Troop Zero. The album features the film’s original music composed by Rob Lord (Slipstream). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Troop Zero is directed by Bert & Bertie and stars Viola Davis, Allison Janney, Mckenna Grace, Mike Epps, Jim Gaffigan, Charlie Shotwell, Edi Patterson and Bella Higginbotham. Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the animated feature Onward directed by Dan Scanlon and starring Chris Pratt, Tom Holland, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Octavia Spencer. The film’s original score is composed by Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Moneyball, Capote, Little Miss Sunshine) and Jeff Danna (The Good Dinosaur, The Addams Family, Storks). Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score, as well as an original song co-written and performed by Brandi Carlile. Also opening wide is the drama The Way Back directed by Gavin O’Connor and starring Ben Affleck, Al Madrigal, Michaela Watkins, Janina Gavankar and Glynn Turman. ‘Escape from Pretoria’ Soundtrack Details

The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee David Hirschfelder (Shine, Elizabeth, Australia, The Railway Man, Legends of the Guardians). Escape from Pretoria is co-written and directed by Francis Annan and stars Daniel Radcliffe, Daniel Webber, Ian Hart, Mark Leonard Winter and Nathan Page. Rob Simonsen (Love, Simon, Nerve, Foxcatcher, The Upside, (500) Days of Summer, The Spectacular Now) is currently scoring the upcoming supernatural comedy sequel Ghostbusters: Afterlife. The film is directed by Jason Reitman (Juno, Up in the Air) and stars Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace and Paul Rudd. The movie follows a single mom and her two kids as they arrive in a small town and begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind. Reitman also co-wrote the screenplay with Gil Kenan (Monster House, City of Ember). Ivan Reitman (Stripes, Kindergarten Cop, Dave) who directed the 1984 original Ghostbusters (scored by Elmer Bernstein) is producing the project. Read the rest of this entry »

Christina Aguilera’s Original Song ‘Loyal Brave True’ from ‘Mulan’ Released

Walt Disney Records has released the original song Loyal Brave True from the live-action film adaptation of Mulan. The song is performed by Christina Aguilera, written by Jamie Hartman, the film’s composer Harry Gregson-Williams, Rosi Golan and Billy Crabtree, and produced by Hartman. The track is now available to download as a digital single on Amazon. Listen to the full track after the jump. Aguilera has also recorded a new version of Reflections (originally written by David Zippel & Matthew Wilder for Disney’s 1998 animated feature), which is produced by Gregson-Williams who incorporated both songs into his underscore. Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the drama The Roads Not Taken. The album features the film’s original music composed by the movie’s director Sally Potter (Orlando, The Tango Lesson ,Yes). The soundtrack will be released digitally next Friday, March 13 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A CD version is also in the works. The Roads Not Taken is written and directed by Potter and stars Javier Bardem, Elle Fanning, Branka Katić, Milena Tscharntke, Laura Linney and Salma Hayek. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Raf Keunen (Bullhead, Racer and the Jailbird, Just a Sigh).
