Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Sinéad O’Connor has recorded an original song for the drama Wild Mountain Thyme. The track, entitled I’ll Be Singing, is written by the film’s composer Amelia Warner and director John Patrick Shanley and will be featured in the movie starring Emily Blunt, Jamie Dornan, Jon Hamm, Dearbhla Molloy and Christopher Walken. The movie is based on Shanley’s Broadway play Outside Mullingar and revolves around two obstinate star-crossed lovers whose families are caught up in a feud over a hotly contested patch of land that separates their two farms. WaterTower Music has released a new soundtrack EP for the Cartoon Network animated special Adventure Time: Distant Lands. The 6-track EP features all the original songs from the second episode of the show, entitled Obsidian, performed by cast members including Michaela Dietz, Audrey Bennett, Charlotte Nicdao, Aleks Sennwald, Pete Toms, Olivia Olson & others. Justin Bell (Extracurricular Activities, Affairs of State, Miles) will release a soundtrack album for the Australian survival thriller Outback. The album features the composer’s original score from the movie, as well as the original song Towards the Rising Sun by the composer & Me Again feat. Laura Clare. James Newton Howard (The Hunger Games, King Kong, The Sixth Sense, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Signs, Maleficent) has recently been scoring the upcoming animated feature Raya and the Last Dragon. The film is directed by Don Hall (Big Hero 6, Winnie the Pooh) & Carlos López Estrada (Blindspotting) and stars Kelly Marie Tran and Awkwafina. The movie tells the story of a fearless warrior as she seeks a water dragon who can transform into a human being to save the realm from evil forces. Sub Pop Records has announced two new soundtrack EPs for the Fox animated comedy Bob’s Burgers. Both EPSs feature a selection of holiday-themed songs from the show performed by cast members including H. Jon Benjamin, John Roberts, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman, Kristen Schaal and Larry Murphy. CTV Records, Kepler Music and The Beatfreak Studio have released a soundtrack album for the Dutch drama Buladó. The album features the film’s original music composed by Christiaan Verbeek (Helium, Boy Meets Gun). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here, where you can also check out audio clips. Buladó is co-written and directed by Éche Janga and stars Tiara Richards, Everon Jackson Hooi and Felix de Rooy. The movie, which has been selected as the Netherlands’ entry for International Feature Film category at next year’s Academy Awards, is set in the countryside of Curaçao and tells the story of a headstrong 11-year-old girl who is determined to find her own path into adulthood and is torn between her agnostic father and her spiritual grandfather. Premiering today is the Netflix original film Christmas on the Square directed by Debbie Allen and starring Dolly Parton, Christine Baranski, Treat Williams, Jeanine Mason, Josh Segarra, Mary Lane Haskell and Jenifer Lewis. The film’s original music is composed by Dolly Parton (who wrote 14 original songs for the project) and conducted by Larry Blank. The holiday musical, which follows a small town “Scrooge” as she’s visited by a rhinestone-bedazzled angel who guides her on a musical journey of redemption, is now available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
Premiering tomorrow, November 23, is the FX and BBC limited series Black Narcissus developed by Amanda Coe based on the novel of the same title by Rumer Godden and starring Gemma Arterton, Alessandro Nivola, Diana Rigg, Aisling Franciosi, Jim Broadbent, Rosie Cavaliero, Patsy Ferran, Karen Bryson, Nila Aalia, Kulvinder Ghir, Chaneil Kular, Gina McKee, Soumil Malla, Dipika Kunwar,and Gianni Gonsalves. The show’s original music is composed by Anne Dudley (The Full Monty, American History X, The Crying Game, Poldark, The Hustle). Brookhaven has released a soundtrack album for the HBO docu-series Murder on Middle Beach. The album features the show’s original music composed by James Lavino (Wiener-Dog, Burning Blue, Murder in the Bayou, Never Here). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and other digital music services. Murder on Middle Beach is directed by Madison Hamburg and examines the filmmaker’s complicated journey to solve an unspeakable crime and absolve the people he loves while seeking out answers within his own fractured family and community. The 4-parter revolves around the case of Madison’s mother, Barbara Hamburg, who was brutally murdered in 2010 near her home in the upper-middle class enclave of Madison, Connecticut. Michael Giacchino has confirmed that he will be returning as the composer for the third installment in the Spider-Man series as part of Marvel Studios’ cinematic universe. The composer has previously scored the first two films, Spider-Man: Homecoming and last year’s Spider-Man: Far from Home. Jon Watts is returning to direct the movie, as are cast members Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon and Marisa Tomei. They are joined by Jamie Foxx who will reprise his role as Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, as well as Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange. Read the rest of this entry »
