H.E.R. has recorded an original song for the upcoming biographical drama Judas and the Black Messiah. The track, entitled Fight for You, is co-written by herself, Dernst ‘D’Mile’ Emile II & Tiara Thomas and will be featured in the movie directed by Shaka King and starring Daniel Kaluuya, LaKeith Stanfield, Jesse Plemons, Dominique Fishback, Ashton Sanders and Martin Sheen. Jazz trombonist Craig Harris and Mark Isham (Crash, Once Upon a Time, Miracle, A River Runs Through It) have teamed up to compose the original score for the film, which tells the story of Chairman Fred Hampton who was 21 years old when he was assassinated by the FBI, who coerced a petty criminal named William O’Neal to help them silence him and the Black Panther Party. Claude Bolling has passed away yesterday at age 90 in Paris, France. The French composer and jazz pianist has scored dozens of films and TV movies/shows between the late 1950s and early 2000s. Among his best known feature credits are Herbert Ross’ California Suite, Mike Newell’s The Awakening, Jacques Deray’s Golden Globe-nominated crime drama Borsalino and the director’s Flic Story, Blood on the Streets & Three Men to Kill, Philippe de Broca’s Le Magnifique, René Goscinny’s Lucky Luke, José Giovanni’s The Gypsy, Marcel Camus’ Atlantic Wall, Dick Clements’ Catch Me a Spy and Daniel Petrie’s The Bad Boy. Composer John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Happy Feet, X-Men: The Last Stand, Shrek, Chicken Run) is reteaming with director Doug Liman on the upcoming romantic comedy/heist movie Locked Down. The film stars Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor as a couple who find life has other plans when they are stuck at home in a mandatory lockdown and call a truce to attempt a high-risk, high-stakes jewellery heist at one of the world’s most exclusive department store, Harrods. Ben Stiller, Stephen Merchant, Lucy Boynton, Ben Kingsley, Mindy Kaling and Dule Hill are co-starring. A soundtrack album will be released for the dramatic thriller The Shade Shepherd. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jonny Mendez. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, December 31 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Shade Shepherd is co-written and directed by Chris Faulisi and stars Jordon Hodges, Randy Spence, Caroline Newton and Brett Baker. Alan Silvestri is set to compose the original score for Walt Disney Studios’ upcoming new live-action film adaptation of Pinocchio directed by Robert Zemeckis. He is also producing and co-writing songs for the movie with songwriter/record producer Glen Ballard. Tom Hanks is attached to star in the film as Geppetto. Chris Weitz (About a Boy, Cinderella) is co-writing the screenplay with Zemeckis based on Disney’s 1940 animated classic and will also produce the project with Andrew Miano (The Farewell, A Single Man).
