David Schwartz has won his first Primetime Emmy Award in the Outstanding Music Composition for a Documentary Series or Special (Original Dramatic Score) category for his score for the Amazon documentary Lucy and Desi at today’s first night of the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards. He has previously been Emmy-nominated three times for his Arrested Development score and his main title theme music from Deadwood: The Movie and Wolf Lake. The composer’s music from Lucy and Desi has been released this past July by Amazon Content Services.

‘Lucy and Desi’ Soundtrack Album Released
Amazon Content Services has released a soundtrack album for the documentary Lucy and Desi. The album features the film’s original music composed by David Schwartz (Arrested Development, The Good Place, Northern Exposure, Veep, Standing Up, Falling Down, Lady Dynamite) who has recently received his fourth Primetime Emmy Award nomination for his work on the project. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Lucy and Desi is produced and directed by Amy Poehler and explores the remarkable personal and professional partnership between comedian Lucille Ball and husband Desi Arnaz and the power couple’s enduring legacy.

Premiering today is the first installment of the Showtime anthology series Super Pumped, entitled The Battle for Uber, based on the book of the same title by Mike Isaac and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Kyle Chandler, Uma Thurman, Elisabeth Shue, Jon Bass, Kerry Bishé, Bridget Gao Hollitt and Babak Tafti. The show’s original music is composed by Brendan Angelides (aka ESKMO) (13 Reasons Why, Billions, Naked Singularity, The Master Cleanse). BMI: Score to Screen Panels at Sundance Film Festival Announced
BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.) has announced its programming for the 2022 Sundance Film Festival today with two virtual Score to Screen panels featuring two conversations that will give an inside look at the creative process of incorporating music in film while delving into the relationship between a composer and the film’s director or producer. Grammy and Academy Award winner Common and composer Patrick Warren (The Chi) co-produced and curated the music for the drama/thriller Alice written and directed by Krystin Ver Linden and starring Keke Palmer, Common himself, Jonny Lee Miller & Gaius Charles about a brave young woman who escapes a life of slavery on a secluded Georgia plantation, only to realize that not everything is as it seems. The film is directed by Amy Poehler and centers on the remarkable personal and professional partnership between comedian Lucille Ball and husband Desi Arnaz (also explored in Aaron Sorkin’s narrative feature Being the Ricardos). Poehler is also producing Imagine Documentarties production with Michael Rosenberg, Justin Wilkes (Mars, Julia), Nigel Sinclair (End of Watch, The Way Bakc) and Jeanne Elfant Festa & Mark Monroe (Pavarotti, The Bee Gees: How Can You Mend a Broken Heart).
