Composer Robin Foster (Criminal: UK, Untogether, Truth Seekers) is reuniting with director Sean Ellis on the upcoming period horror drama Eight for Silver. The film is written and directed by Ellis (Cashback, The Broken) and stars Boyd Holbrook, Kelly Reilly, Alistair Petrie, Roxane Duran and Áine Rose Daly. The movie is set in the late 19th century and follows a pathologist who arrives in a remote country village to investigate an attack by a wild animal brutal and discovers a sinister presence lurking in the woods. John Powell – Film Suites Vol. 1 Album Released

John Powell and 5 Cat Studios have released a new album featuring nine suites from some of the composer’s score best known scores. Among the titles are How to Train Your Dragon (for which he received his first Academy Award nomination) and its first sequel, The Bourne Identity, Chicken Run, X-Men: The Last Stand, Two Weeks Notice, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Ice Age: The Meltdown and Endurance. The music was newly recorded with the Philharmonia Orchestra and The Philharmonia Voices and conducted by José Serebrier. Sarah Warne has been tapped to score the upcoming BBC drama Time. The show is written by Jimmy McGovern (Broken, The Street, Accused) and stars Stephen Graham, Sean Bean,  Siobhan Finneran, Sue Johnston, Hannah Walters, David Calder, Nadine Marshall, Michael Socha, Aneurin Barnard and Jack McMulllen. Four new movies are opening nationwide this week:

Opening in most theaters is the superhero movie Wonder Woman 1984 directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal and Connie Nielsen. The film’s original music is composed by Hans Zimmer (InceptionThe Lion King, The Dark Knight, Man of SteelGladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean, Interstellar). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last week. Check out our previous news article for the full album and to learn more about the Warner Bros. Also opening wide is the western News of the World co-written and directed by Paul Greengrass and starring Tom Hanks and Helena Zengel. James Newton Howard (The Hunger GamesThe Sixth SenseSigns, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, King Kong, The Village) has composed the film’s original music. The show is created by George Kay (Criminal: UK) & François Uzan (Family Business) and stars Omar Sy, Ludivine Sagnier, Clotilde Hesme, Nicole Garcia, Hervé Pierre, Soufiane Guerrab, Antoine Gouy, Fargass Assandé, Vincent Londez and Shirine Boutella. The drama is inspired by the adventures of Arsène Lupin and centers on Assane Diop whose life was turned upside down when his father died after being accused of a crime he didn’t commit and, 25 years later, uses “Arsène Lupin, Gentleman Burglar” as his inspiration to avenge his father. The film is written and directed by Alessio Jim Della Valle and stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Paz Vega, Emile Hirsch, Jeremy Piven, Fortunato Cerlino, Annabelle Belmondo, Mara Lane and Alba Amira Ramadani. The movie set in New York City’s corrupt contemporary art world and centers on an art deal and the ruthless head of New York’s mafia whose paths cross when Andy Warhol’s Pink Marilyn is stolen, setting off a series of unexpected events that upend their lives. Atlantic Screen Music has released a soundtrack album for the British holiday comedy Surviving Christmas with the Relatives. The album features the film’s original music composed by Hugo de Chaire (Crooked House, Capsule). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Surviving Christmas with the Relatives is written and directed by James Dearden and stars Julian Ovenden, Gemma Whelan, Joely Richardson, Michael Landes, Sally Phillips, Patricia Hodge and Ronni Ancona. Mike Tuccillo (Shot in the Dark, Out of Omaha) is composing the original score and Dan Romer (Beasts of the Southern Wild, Maniac, Beasts of No Nation) serves as the executive music producer on the upcoming documentary Homeroom. The film is directed by Peter Nicks (The Waiting Room, The Force) and focuses on the lives of Oakland High School’s class of 2020 trying to make the most of their final year in high school amidst a procession of blows. Magic Light Pictures has released a soundtrack album for the animated short Zog and the Flying Doctors. The album features the original music from the holiday special composed by René Aubry (The Gruffalo, The Bears’ Famous Invasion, The Snail and the Whale, The Highway Rat) who previously scored the 2018 original Zog short. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and other digital music stores. Zog and the Flying Doctors is directed by Sean Mullen and features the voices of Sir Lenny Henry as the narrator, Hugh Skinner, Tracey Ullman, Patsy Ferran and Kit Harington. La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the Fox/Hulu original series The Orville. The album features selections of the original score from the show’s second season composed by John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, The Jungle Book, Elf, Iron Man 2), Joel McNeely (A Million Ways to Die in the West, The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles) and Andrew Cottee. Also included is Bruce Broughton’s main titles theme. The 2-CD set will be released on January 19, 2021 and is now available to order on Amazon or La-La Land’s official website. A digital version is set to come out on January 22 (click here to stream/download). The label has previously released a soundtrack featuring the composers’ music from the first season last year. The Orville is created by Seth MacFarlane and stars Macfarlane himself, Adrianne Palicki, Scott Grimes, Peter Macon, Halston Sage, J. Lee, Mark Jackson, Jessica Szohr and Penny Johnson Jerald.
