Tyler Bates has scored the pilot for the Amazon Studios original drama Hysteria. The show is created by Shaun Cassidy (Invasion, Roar) and stars Mena Suvari as a neurologist who returns to her hometown of Austin, Texas to investigate the case of a girls’ competitive dance team that is stricken by a strange, psycho-physiological illness that spreads through social media. T.R. Knight, James McDaniel, Josh Stewart and Ella Rae Peck are co-starring. Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders) has directed the pilot episode and is also executive producing the project alongside Cassidy, Adam Schroeder (The Truman Show, Sleepy Hollow, Chronicle), Sharon Hall, Andrew Kosove & Broderick Johnson (Prisoners, The Blind Side, Insomnia) and Bryan Zuriff (The Details).

Mark Suozzo Scoring Whit Stillman’s ‘The Cosmopolitans’
Mark Suozzo has composed the music for the pilot of Amazon Studios’ dramatic comedy The Cosmopolitans. The show is created by Whit Stillman and stars Chloë Sevigny, Adam Brody, Carrie MacLemore, Dree Hemingway, Freddy Åsblom, Jordan Rountree and Adriano Giannini. The comedy follows a group of young American expats in contemporary Paris searching for love and friendship in a foreign city. Stilman has written the script and directed the pilot episode, which was shot on location in Paris and is also producing the project with Alex Corven. Joan Osborne’s cover of What Becomes of the Brokenhearted is the pilot’s opening titles song. Suozzo has previously collaborated with Stillman on numerous features including Barcelona, Metropolitan, The Last Days of Disco and most recently, Damsels in Distress.
‘Turn’ Soundtrack Announced
Republic Records will release a soundtrack album for the AMC original series Turn. The album features six songs from the show by such artists as Matt Berninger, Jake Bugg, Sarah Blasko, Jonathan Wilson, Gary Lightbody and Andrew Bird. The label has previously released the individual tracks as singles. The soundtrack will be released on September 2, 2014. Turn is created by Craig Silverstein and stars Jamie Bell, Seth Numrich, Daniel Henshall, Heather Lind, Meegan Warner, Kevin R. McNally, Burn Gorman, Angus Macfadyen, JJ Feild and Samuel Roukin. The drama’s first season scored by Marco Beltrami premiered earlier this year on AMC. Premiering tonight in the U.S. on PBS as part of Masterpiece Mystery is the British medical drama Breathless co-created and written by Paul Unwin (Shameless) and starring Jack Davenport, Iain Glen, Zoe Boyle Catherine Steadman, Iain Glen, Natasha Little, Oliver Chris, Joanna Page and Shaun Dingwall. The show’s original music is composed by Academy Award winner Anne Dudley (The Full Monty, American History X, Black Box). Breathless follows a group of doctors and nurses in a hospital in 1960s London. The series premiered last fall in the UK on ITV and will air in the US Sunday nights on PBS. John Swihart to Score ABC’s ‘Cristela’
John Swihart has been hired to score the upcoming ABC comedy Cristela. The show is created by Kevin Hench (Last Man Standing) and stand-up comedienne Cristela Alonzo who also stars in the series alongside Carlos Ponce, Terri Hoyos, Andrew Leeds, Sam McMurray. The comedy follows an American Latina law student who hopes to land a prestigious law firm internship as her mother hectors her about getting a real job, her brother-in-law encourages her to move out and her sister runs low on patience. Hench and Alonzo are also executive producing the 20th Century Fox TV and 21 Laps-Adelstein production with Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, Real Steel, Date Night), Becky Clements (Last Man Standing) and Marty Adelstein (Hanna, Prison Break).
Josh Kramon to Score ABC’s ‘Forever’
Josh Kramon is scoring the upcoming ABC drama Forever. The show is created by Matthew Miller (Chuck, Human Target) and stars Ioan Gruffudd, Alana De La Garza, Lorraine Toussaint, Donnie Keshawarz, Joel David Moore and Judd Hirsch. The series follows New York City’s star medical examiner who studies the dead to solve criminal cases and the mystery of his own inexplicable immortality. Miller is also executive producing the Warner Bros. Television production with Jennifer Gwartz (Veronica Mars, Cupid) and Dan Lin (The Lego Movie, Sherlock Holmes). Forever is set to premiere on September 23, 2014 and will air every Tuesday night on ABC.
NBC’s ‘A to Z’ to Feature Music by Craig Wedren
Craig Wedren has been hired to score the new NBC comedy A to Z. The show is created by Ben Queen (Drive, Cars 2) and stars Ben Feldman, Cristin Milioti, Henry Zebrowski, Lenora Crichlow, Christina Kirk and Hong Chau. Katey Sagal is narrating the series, which follows the relationship between a male employee at an internet dating site and a female no-nonsense lawyer, from meeting to breakup. Queen is also executive producing the Warner Bros. Television and Le Train Train production with Rashida Jones (Parks and Recreation), Will McCormack (Celeste & Jesse Forever), Bill Callahan (Psych) and Michael Patrick Jann (Reno 911!). A to Z is set to premiere on October 2, 2014 and will air every Thursday night on NBC.
Jeff Russo & Ben Decter to Score ‘CSI: Cyber’
Jeff Russo and Ben Decter have been tapped to score the upcoming CBS drama CSI: Cyber. The show is created by Anthony E. Zuiker, Carol Mendelsohn & Ann Donahue (CSI: Miami, CSI: NY) and stars Patricia Arquette, James Van Der Beek, Charley Koontz and Peter MacNicol. The series centers around Special Agent Avery Ryan who heads the Cyber Crime Division of the FBI, a unit at the forefront of solving illegal activities that start in the mind, live online and play out in the real world. The character was introduced earlier this year on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

Premiering on Wednesday, August 20, on Netflix in the U.S. is the BBC mini-series Happy Valley created by Sally Wainwright (Last Tango in Halifax) and starring Sarah Lancashire, Steve Pemberton, Siobhan Finneran, George Costigan and Joe Armstrong. The show’s original music is composed by Ben Foster (Torchwood, Hidding Kingdoms). Happy Valley centers around the personal and professional life of hardworking, dedicated policewoman in a small town where alcoholics, drug addicts and pregnant teens are a way of life. The crime drama premiered this spring in the UK and all six episodes will be available to stream on Netflix starting Wednesday.
‘Houdini’ Soundtrack Details
Lakeshore Records will release two soundtrack albums for the History original mini-series Houdini. The album features the original music from the series composed by Academy Award nominee John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Iron Man 2, Elf). Sebastian Arocha has composed additional music.
