Premiering on Wednesday, August 20, on Netflix in the U.S. is the BBC mini-series Happy Valley created by Sally Wainwright (Last Tango in Halifax) and starring Sarah Lancashire, Steve Pemberton, Siobhan Finneran, George Costigan and Joe Armstrong. The show’s original music is composed by Ben Foster (Torchwood, Hidding Kingdoms). Happy Valley centers around the personal and professional life of hardworking, dedicated policewoman in a small town where alcoholics, drug addicts and pregnant teens are a way of life. The crime drama premiered this spring in the UK and all six episodes will be available to stream on Netflix starting Wednesday.

Bear McCreary to Score BBC America’s ‘Intruders’
Bear McCreary has been tapped to score the upcoming BBC America original series Intruders. The show is created by Glen Morgan (Final Destination, The X-Files) and stars John Simm, Mira Sorvino, Tory Kittles, James Frain and Millie Brown. The drama is set in the Pacific Northwest and follows a secret society devoted to chasing immortality by seeking refuge in the bodies of others. Morgan is also executive producing the project with Jane Tranter (Criminal Justice) & Julie Gardner (Doctor Who, Torchwood) and Rose Lam (The L Word). Tranter also serves as an executive producer on the McCreary-scored Starz series DaVinci’s Demons. Eduardo Sanchez (The Blair Witch Project, Exists) and Daniel Stamm (13 Sins) have directed the first episodes of Intruders, which is set to premiere on August 23, 2014 and will air every Saturday on BBC America.

Two new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
The first wide release of the week is the 3D fantasy film Wrath of the Titans directed by Jonathan Liebesman and starring Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Danny Huston, Edgar Ramirez, Rosamund Pike and Bill Nighy. The sequel to the 2010 film Clash of the Titans is scored by Javier Navarrete (Pan’s Labyrinth). Also opening wide is the family fantasy comedy Mirror Mirror directed by Tarsem Singh and starring Lily Collins as Snow White, Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen, as well as Armie Hammer, Sean Bean and Nathan Lane. Eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken has composed the music for the film. Relativity Music Group has released a soundtrack album featuring the score, as well as the original song I Believe in Love performed by Lily Collins. ‘Intruders’ Soundtrack Announced
The soundtrack for the horror thriller Intruders will be released by Milan Records. The album features the original score by composer Roque Banos (The Machinist, Sexy Beast). The album is currently set to be released on January 9, 2012 in Europe. (UPDATE March 2012): The album will be released on March 27, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Roque Banos Scoring ‘Intruders’
Empire has premiered the first teaser trailer for the upcoming horror thriller Intruders today. A closer look to the credits reveals that Spanish composer Roque Banos is listed as the film’s composer. The movie is directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later, Intact) and stars Clive Owen, Daniel Brühl, Carice van Houten, Ella Purnell and Kerry Fox. The film’s story centers on an 11-year-old girl who is forced to confront childhood demons. The English-language project is a American, British and Spanish co-production and was shot in London and Madrid last summer. Among the film’s producers is Belen Atienza (Pan’s Labyrinth, The Orphonage, Che) who previously produced the Viggo Mortensen-starring adventure biopic Alatriste, which Banos scored back in 2006.
