WaterTower Music will release a new soundtrack album for the Cinemax original series Warrior. The album features selections of the original score from the show’s second season composed by Reza Safinia (Birth of the Dragon, Filly Brown, The Trust) and H. Scott Salinas (The Banker, A Private War, Cartel Land, The Ballad of Lefty Brown). Also included are three songs by SmashRegz, Chops & THE WARRIOR. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, May 7 and will be available to stream/download here. Milan Records has previously released a soundtrack featuring the composers’ music from Season 1. Warrior is created by Jonathan Tropper, executive produced by Justin Lin and stars Andrew Koji, Olivia Cheng, Jason Tobin, Kieran Bew, Dean Jagger, Dianne Doan, Joanna Vanderham, Tom Weston-Jones, Joe Taslim, Hoon Lee, Langley Kirkwood, Christian McKay, Perry Yung, Dustin Nguyen, Céline Buckens and Miranda Raison.

‘Girls5eva’ Soundtrack Released
Epic Records has released a soundtrack album for the Peacock original series Girls5ava. The album features the original songs from the show’s first season co-written by Jeff Richmond (who also serves as an executive producer) and performed by Sara Bareilles, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Busy Philipps, Paula Pell and other cast members. Bareilles also composed two songs (4 Stars and I’m Afraid) for the comedy. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon. Also listen to several tracks below. Girls5eva created by Meredith Scardino is also executive produced by Tina Fey, Robert Carlock, David Miner & Eric Gurian and follows a one-hit-wonder girl group from the 90’s whose members reunite when their hit songs get samples by a young rapper to give their pop star dreams one more shot.
Robert Glasper & Derrick Hodge Scoring Starz’s ‘Run the World’
Jazz pianist/record producer Robert Glasper (The Photograph, Miles Ahead) & Derrick Hodge are the composers of the new Starz original series Run the World. The show is created by Leigh Davenport and stars Bresha Webb, Amber Stevens West, Corbin Reid, Andrea Bordeaux, Tonya Pinkins, Stephen Bishop, Erika Alexander, Tosin Morohunfola, Jay Walker and Nick Sagar. The comedy drama tells the story of a group of Black women in their 30s who work, live and play in Harlem as they strive for world domination.
Amazon’s ‘Solos’ to Feature Music by Martin Phipps
Martin Phipps (The Crown, Woman in Gold, War & Peace, The Aftermath, The Honourable Woman, Peaky Blinders) has recently been scoring the new Amazon anthology original series Solos. The show is created by David Weil (Hunters) and stars Helen Mirren, Anne Hathaway, Morgan Freeman, Uzo Aduba, Anthony Mackie, Constance Wu, Dan Stevens and Nicole Beharie. The 7-part sci-fi drama explores the depths of human connection through the lens of eight remote characters. Weil is also executive producing the project with Sam Taylor-Johnson (Nowhere Boy, 50 Shades of Grey) and Laura Lancaster (The Expanse, The Defiant Ones).
Theodore Shapiro & Joseph Shirley Scoring Disney+’s ‘The Mysterious Benedict Society’
Theodore Shapiro (The Devil Wears Prada, Tropic Thunder, Ghostbusters, Bombshell, Spy) & Joseph Shirley (Bad Trip, The Open House) are teaming up to co-score the upcoming Disney+ original series The Mysterious Benedict Society. The show is developed by Matt Manfredi & Phil Hay (Ride Along, Clash of the Titans) based on the bestselling book series by Trenton Lee Stewart and stars Tony Hale, Kristen Schaal, MaameYaa Boafo, Ryan Hurst, Mystic Inscho, Gia Sandhu, Seth B. Carr, Emmy DeOliveira and Marta Kessler. The series revolves around a group of orphans who are placed undercover at a boarding school and must foil a nefarious plot with global ramifications while creating a new sort of family along the way.
Dominic Lewis Scoring Disney+’s ‘Monsters at Work’
Dominic Lewis (The Man in the High Castle, Peter Rabbit, Free Birds, Money Monster) is scoring the upcoming Disney+ original series Monsters at Work. The show is developed by Bobs Gannaway (Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Lilo & Stitch: The Series) based on Pixar’s feature Monsters, Inc (scored by Randy Newman) and stars Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Jennifer Tilly, John Ratzenberger & Bonnie Hunt who reprise their roles from the animated movie. They are joined by new voice cast members Ben Feldman, Henry Winkler, Mindy Kalling, Lucas Neff and Alanna Ubac. The animated series follows an eager young monster who graduated top of his class at Monsters University and always dreamed of becoming a Scarer, until he lands a job at Monsters, Incorporated and discovers that scaring is out and laughter is in.
‘Trying’ Season 2 Soundtrack Album Announced
Atlantic Records will release a new soundtrack album for the Apple TV+ original series Trying. The album features the original songs from the show’s second season written and performed by Maisie Peters. The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 21, 2021 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A first track (Funeral feat. James Bay) is already available to stream/download now. Trying is created by Andy Wolton and stars Rafe Spall, Esther Smith and Imelda Staunton.
Ben Frost to Score Netflix’s ‘1899’
Netflix announced today that Ben Frost is set to score the upcoming Netflix original series 1899. The show is created by Jantje Friese & Baran bo Odar and stars Emily Beecham, Aneurin Barnard, Andreas Pietschmann, Miguel Bernardeau, Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen, Maciej Musial, Rosalie Craig,Maria Erwolter, Clara Rosager, Yann Gael, Mathilde Ollivier, Isabella Wei, , José Pimentão, Gabby Wong, Fflyn Edwards, Jonas Bloquet, Alexandre Willaume and Anton Lesser. The 8-parter follows the mysterious circumstances around the voyage of a group of multinational immigrants traveling from the old continent to the new as they encounter a nightmarish riddle aboard a second ship adrift on the open sea.
Weekly TV Music Roundup (May 2, 2021)
Premiering tonight is the third season of the Starz anthology series The Girlfriend Experience written and directed by Anja Marquardt (based on Steven Soderbergh’s feature of the same title) and starring Julia Goldani Telles. Matthew Pusti (A Good Woman Is Hard to Find, Whistleblower) has composed the original music for Season 3 and follows Shane Carruth and the Mondo Boys who scored the first two seasons. The third season, which is set amidst the London tech scene and follows a neuroscience major who begins to explore the transactional world of The Girlfriend Experience, only to find herself deep inside the uncanny valley with the relationships she creates, will air Sunday nights on Starz.
Premiering on Tuesday, May 4, is Lucasfilm’s Disney+ original series Star Wars: The Bad Batch created by Dave Filoni and starring Dee Bradley Baker, Ming-Na Wen, Stephen Stanton and Andrew Kishino. The show’s original music is composed by Kevin Kiner (Narcos: Mexico, Doom Patrol, CSI: Miami, Titans, City on a Hill, Making a Murderer) who previously scored all episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars (and the feature of the same title) and Star Wars Rebels.
