The National members Bryce Dessner & Aaron Dessner have composed the original music for the upcoming documentary What Will Become of Us. The film is directed by Academy Award-nominated documentarian Steven Cantor (Dancer, Step) and centers on Sir Frank Lowy, the billionaire co-founder of Westfield Corporation as he faces a dilemma: whether or not to sell his multinational company, his life’s work and legacy. Dani Drusin, Jamie Schutz and Nina Chaudry are producing the project.

Nathan Halpern Scoring Carlo Mirabella-Davis’s ‘Swallow’
Nathan Halpern (The Rider, Minding the Gap, One Percent More Humid, Rich Hill) is scoring the upcoming indie psychological thriller Swallow. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Carlo Mirabella-Davis and stars Haley Bennett, Austin Stowell, Elizabeth Marvel, David Rasche and Denis O’Hare. The movie follows a newly pregnant housewife who finds herself increasingly compelled to consume dangerous objects and must confront the dark secret behind her new obsession. Mirabella-Davis also wrote the screenplay.
Hans Zimmer to Score Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune’
Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Entertainment have announced that Hans Zimmer will be composing the score for the upcoming new film adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune. The film is directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Prisoners) and stars Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, David Dastmalchian, Stephen Henderson, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa and Javier Bardem. The movie tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people.
Scott Bomar Scoring Craig Brewer’s ‘Dolemite Is My Name’
Scott Bomar has recently composed the original score for the upcoming biographical comedy drama Dolemite Is My Name. The film is directed by Craig Brewer (Footloose) and stars Eddie Murphy, Wesley Snipes, Craig Robinson, Mike Epps, Tituss Burgess and Da’Vine Joy Randolph. The movie tells the life story of Rudy Ray Moore, a “larger than life” comedian, musician, singer, actor, and film producer in the 1970s who – when he couldn’t get work in Hollywood – simply created his own – including the most well-known Blaxploitation film of all time, Dolemite. Scott Alexander & Larry Karaszewski (Ed Wood, American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson, The People v. Larry Flynt) wrote the screenplay.
Nathan Johnson to Reteam with Rian Johnson on ‘Knives Out’
Composer Nathan Johnson is reteaming with director Rian Johnson on the upcoming crime drama Knives Out. The film starring Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Toni Collette, Lakeith Stanfield, Ana de Armas, Don Johnson, Katherine Langford and Christopher Plummer is being described as a modern murder mystery. No plot details have been announced yet. The director also wrote the screenplay and is producing the project with Ram Bergman (Papillon, Self/less).

The film is directed by Andy De Emmony (West Is West, Love Bite) and stars Matthew Goode, Russell Brand, Paula Patton, Ashley Aufderheide, Teddie Malleson-Allen, Billy Jenkins, Ellie-Mae Siame, as well as Michael Caine as the voice of It. The movie is based on Jacqueline Wilson’s children’s book of the same title and follows four kids who are horrified to learn that their beach vacation is in fact a bonding trip with their potential future step-siblings and accidentally stumble upon a magical creature who can grant them one wish a day.

John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, The Jungle Book, Iron Man 2) & Germaine Franco (Tag, Dope) are teaming up to score the upcoming family adventure Dora the Explorer. The film is directed by James Bobin (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted) and stars Isabela Moner, Eugenio Derbez, Eva Longoria, Michael Peña, Jeffery Wahlberg, Nicholas Coombe, Madeleine Madden, Adriana Barraza, Q’orianka Kilcher, Pia Miller and Temuera Morrison. Benicio del Toro also stars as the voice of Swiper. The movie is based on Nickelodeon’s animated TV series and follows the title character as she has to save her parents and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost Inca civilization.

Danny Elfman & Chris Bacon have been tapped to score the upcoming sci-fi comedy Men in Black: International. The film is directed by F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton, The Italian Job) and stars Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Rebecca Ferguson, Kumail Nanjiani, Rafe Spall, Laurent Bourgeois, Larry Bourgeois, Emma Thompson and Liam Neeson. The movie follows the title characters as they tackle their biggest, most global threat to date: a mole in the Men in Black organization. Art Marcum & Matt Holloway (Iron Man) wrote the screenplay.
