Variety is reporting that Grammy Award winner Harvey Mason Jr. is composing the music for the upcoming animated musical feature Ladybug & Cat Noir Awakening. The film directed by Jeremy Zag is based on his Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir TV series (which aired in the U.S. on Nickelodeon) and follows two Parisian teens who transform into the Ladybug and Cat Noir superheroes. Zag is also producing the Zag Company and The Awakening production with Aton Soumache (The Little Prince, Playmobil: The Movie, Upside Down).

Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell to Score Shane Dax Taylor’s ‘Salvage’
Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains is attached to score the upcoming sci-fi action feature Salvage. The film is directed by Shane Dax Taylor (Bloodworth) and is set to star Anne Heche and Thomas Jane. The movie revolves around two couples fighting to survive on a houseboat as it moves down river in a post-apocalyptic America. Taylor also co-wrote the screenplay with Chad Law (The Hit List, 6 Bullets, Drive Hard) and is producing the Wonderful Global production with Steven Schneider (Insidious, Pet Sematary, Blair Witch).
Tyler Bates to Score David Leitch’s ‘Hobbs & Shaw’
Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy, 300, Watchmen, The Punisher, Dawn of the Dead) is reuniting with director David Leitch on the upcoming action movie Hobbs & Shaw. The film stars Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham who reprise their roles as sworn enemies Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw from the Fast & Furious franchise. They are joined by Idris Elba, Vanessa Kirby and Helen Mirren. The movie follows the titular characters as they have to partner up to bring down the only guy who might be badder than themselves.
Blake Neely to Score Aaron Schneider’s ‘Greyhound’
Blake Neely has been hired to score the upcoming World War II drama Greyhound. The film is directed by Aaron Schneider (Get Low) and stars Tom Hanks, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Elisabeth Shue, Stephen Graham and Rob Morgan. The movie is based on C.S. Forester’s novel The Good Shepherd and tells the story of Capt. Ernest Krause who – in the early days of World War II – crosses the treacherous North Atlantic while being hotly pursued by wolf packs of Nazi submarines. Hanks also wrote the screenplay is producing the project through his Playtone production company, alongside Gary Goetzman (My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Mamma Mia!).
Jim Jarmusch’s ‘The Dead Don’t Die’ to Feature Original Score by SQÜRL
SQÜRL (aka Jim Jarmusch & Carter Logan) have composed the music for the upcoming zombie comedy The Dead Don’t Die. The film is written and directed by Jarmusch (Broken Flowers, Only Lovers Left Alive) and stars Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Tilda Swinton, Chloë Sevigny, Steve Buscemi, Danny Glover, Caleb Landry Jones, Iggy Pop, Selena Gomez and Tom Waits. The movie unfolds in the peaceful town of Centerville, which suddenly finds itself under attack by zombies. Logan (Gimme Danger) is also producing the project with Joshua Astrachan (A Prairie Home Companion, Short Term 12).

Johan Söderqvist (Let the Right One In, Kon-Tiki, In a Better World) is scoring the upcoming drama Lyrebird. The film marks the directorial debut of Dan Friedkin (The Mule, All the Money in the World) and stars Guy Pearce, Claes Bang, Vicky Krieps and Roland Møller. The movie tells the true story of Dutch folk hero Han van Meegeren, an art forger who victimized the Nazis with bang-on copies of masterpieces. Mark Fergus & Hawk Ostby (Children of Men, Iron Man) wrote the screenplay with John Orloff (Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, A Mighty Heart).

The film marks the directorial debut of screenwriter Andrea Berloff (Straight Outta Compton, World Trade Center) and stars Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish, Elisabeth Moss, Domhnall Gleeson, James Badge Dale, Brian d’Arcy James, Margo Martindale, Common, Bill Camp, Jeremy Bobb, Alicia Coppola, John Sharian and Myk Watford. The movie is based on the Vertigo comic book series from DC Entertainment created by Ollie Masters & Ming Doyle and follows three 1978 Hell’s Kitchen housewives whose mobster husbands are sent to prison by the FBI and decide to take the Irish mafia’s matters into their own hands.

Elliot Leung is composing the music for the upcoming Chinese action thriller The Rescue. The film is directed by Dante Lam (Operation Mekong, The Stool Pigeon, The Sniper) and stars Eddie Peng, Xin Zhilei, Wang Yanlin, Lan Yingying, Xu Yang, Li Mincheng and Wang Yutian. The movie centers on an emergency rescue operative and his pilot girlfriend, whose team find courage and camaraderie in adversity. Candy Leung is producing the project.

Rob Simonsen (Love, Simon, Nerve, Foxcatcher, The Upside, (500) Days of Summer, The Spectacular Now) is reuniting with director Julia Hart on the upcoming Disney+ original movie Stargirl. The film is based on Jerry Spinelli’s best-selling YA novel and stars Grace VanderWaal in the title role, alongside Graham Verchere,Giancarlo Esposito, Karan Brar, Darby Stanchfield and Maximiliano Hernandez. The movie follows Leo Borlock who, in a world where the spaces grow bigger even as they get smaller, meets Stargirl Caraway, a bright, authentic light who breaks through the sea of teenage confusion.
Nathan Furst to Reteam with Scott Waugh on ‘Project X-Traction’
Composer Nathan Furst is reteaming with director Scott Waugh on the upcoming action thriller Project X-Traction. The film starring Jackie Chan and John Cena follows a retired Chinese military man and now private security contractor who is sent to rescue workers from a Chinese-run oil refinery under attack.When he learns that the attackers’ real plan is to steal a fortune in oil, he teams up with an American to stop them. Arash Amel (A Private War, Grace of Monaco) wrote the screenplay. Chan is also producing the project for his Sparkle Roll Media production company, alongside Joe Tam, Esmond Ren (Skiptrace) and Hans Canosa (Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac).
